[REQ] When MMA creates Node(s) in treee better define them

Post by dtsig »

When I plug my GS3 in MMW shows 2 Samsung Galaxy S3. It would be much better if it would add Internal/External. This would make it much easier to work with

Note: Not just in Nodes but also Tools/Options/Portable devices

Remove the profiles and wifi connect, does it show correctly now? The incorrect device naming could have been left over from a previous build.

Alternatively in MMW with the device connected you can rename them in the Media Tree or you can rename in the Device Profile clicking on the name in the Summary tab.

I will check your first note ... though I have had problems with wifi sync so use usb instead.

As for the second note ... Yes ... I can change the name ... but which is which? It would be best if MMW put the internal/external along with the name like some other routines do.

Thanks

It should do this. Mine have internal/external. Anyway if you use USB you can generally see this by the capacity of each when your device is connected.

dtsig,

MMW displays nodes in the tree based on whatever the device communicates over MTP. On my S3, it displays two nodes per device labeled internal/external, as appropriate (this wasn't always the case in earlier builds, which is why Lowlander was suggesting to delete the profiles and then see if they get recreated correctly. But on an S2 which connects as a USB Mass Storage device, the two nodes just appear with different drive letter designations. In other words, if you have the current version of MMW, the devices should appear correctly, as long as the device is configured to identify the locations.

MMA displays locations based on how the locations are indentified internally on the device (e.g. on the S2, both locations are identified as external cards).

What device are you using?
