Synch can't handle unicode directory/artists name?

Re: Synch can't handle unicode directory/artists name?
They play for me, but fail to scan (as it is designed to ignore hidden files). The fact they fail to play for you may indicate something else as issue.

I just tried all that you talked about on My QNAP and found that if Folder ACL is enabled than I control access from Windows explorer, allowing me to see the files.

Windows Explorer can see the files without issue (when hidden files are to be shown), MediaMonkey can't scan, but can add them manually and play them in my case.

I can see the files via Explorer also.Peke wrote:I just tried all that you talked about on My QNAP and found that if Folder ACL is enabled than I control access from Windows explorer, allowing me to see the files.
If I select the album in MMW, and play it, it just ripples through the tracks rapidly, playing nothing.
But if I right click one of the tracks in Explorer, and say Play In MediaMonkey, the track plays ok. I hear it, and if I open the MMW Player window I see the time ticking over, and the little graphic with the bar dancing about.
So Windows Explorer is ok seeing the files here too, but MMW is not apparently.

Thats strange that MMW can play them when selected in explorer, could you generate log of both cases, i.e. one log for the failed playback and another for the "Play In MediaMonkey" action that works? I could see the difference by comparing the two logs.Barry4679 wrote: If I select the album in MMW, and play it, it just ripples through the tracks rapidly, playing nothing.

Re: Synch can't handle unicode directory/artists name?
I see in the log that the file from command line (via Windows Explorer) is
\\NAS-PRIMOS01\flac\Ólafur Arnalds\And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness\01.flac
i.e. without the dots, it looks like something removed the dots from the filename and there are no longer dots in the filename, isn't it?
So it looks that the issue is that the file no longer exists in the original location
\\NAS-PRIMOS01\flac\Ólafur Arnalds\... And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness\01.flac
but was moved by another app to
\\NAS-PRIMOS01\flac\Ólafur Arnalds\And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness\01.flac
i.e. the dots were escaped by another app?
So I guess that if you change the filename to
\\NAS-PRIMOS01\flac\Ólafur Arnalds\And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness\01.flac
in MediaMonkey then it is playable, right?

So sorry for wasting everybody's' time.
I was blindsided first by the Unicode in the artist name, and then the preceding periods in the album name tag.
I cannot remember doing it, but as suggested by Ludek, I guess that I must have renamed the folder in the Explorer at some point, presumably when some other application couldn't handle the preceding period in the folder name.

Re: Synch can't handle unicode directory/artists name?
One final thought:
So the album entry was present in the MM db, but the tracks which the MM entries pointed to didn't exist any longer.
So a synch rule could be created, but not actioned.
Wouldn't it be good if a dbox was displayed if errors were encountered during the synch?
We get a dbox for deletion confirmations. One listing any synch errors would be helpful, and may reduce support calls.
It would also be good to be able to call up a synch log report, listing actions taken during the most recent synch. I see messages flashing past on the status bar, but they are disappear too quickly.
