Rating over UPnP

Post by ohneland »

Ratings do not show up although it is displayed fine in MMW and in other Desktop Music Programmes.
Thus, it should not be an issue of the song properties or tags.
Or do i do something wrong? I have nothing synced whatsoever. MMA just reads through the UPNP node.

That's a long standing issue, that seems to have not been reported: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=11422

Re. inability to view ratings over UPnP this seems to be working correctly in MMA 177 / MMW 1668 . Note that the ratings are only shown in MMA's NP Art view if the ratings are configured to show (tap the album art).

Please reverify and let us know. Thanks!

This isn't resolved for me. UPnP files show with 0 Rating in Now Playing/Properties despite that they all have 5 stars.

LL,

I suspect that the 5-star ratings _appear_ as if they're 0 stars (they're faded to indicate that they're not editable over UPnP). To confirm my suspicion, can you try playing a variety of tracks with different ratings?

So there's no ambiguity, here's how I'm testing:
1 Run MMW
2 In MMA click UPnP and browse the MMW Server
3 Click tracks that have ratings to initiate playback
4 In the NP Art view, tap the art to show the ratings/shuffle indicator

You're right, the confusion stems from the way it is displayed. Local files show stars with no borders for rated stars and star with border (no in fill) for unrated stars. UPnP files show a stars with border and shaded in fill for rated stars and border no in fill for unrated stars. I'd suggest considering to shade the border and the star the same for rated stars when the file can't be edited (UPnP files).

We'll probably defer that until we implement an alternate means of displaying ratings/shuffle/repeat that doesn't rely on shading.

Slightly off-topic: Did someone thought about being able to SET ratings over UPnP?
