Some tracks show twice in Album Artist-->Album view [#12484]

Recently I've noticed that when I go through Album Artist to an album, some tracks are listed twice. These files are not duplicated in the database. The tracks only appear once if I go through the Album view from the main menu instead of going through Album Artist, and also only show once under All Tracks. It is also not possible to select both listings for a duplicated track simultaneously; selecting one will deselect the other. Playing the album by pressing on a track does cause the affected tracks to be added to Now Playing twice though.

I'm using build 361 with a Nexus 5 and a Nexus 7. The issue occurs on exactly the same tracks on both devices. I have tried deleting all of the media from one device and resyncing but the same issue occurs with exactly the same tracks again.

Looks like multiple Album Artist values is the cause.

Nicely spotted, Lowlander, thanks. I've just checked that against several other albums and every track which is listed twice is tagged with two artists. That gives me a temporary workaround until it's fixed.

After getting all of my MP3's on my MMA I have noticed an issue with album art:

Some albums that have more than one artist appear multiple times with the same cover. For example: if Album One has songs from 5 different artists, each artist will appear with the same cover art and display how many songs they are contributing to that album. So essentially, in this example, I am going to get the same cover art 5 times which makes scrolling through my large collection cumbersome.

Sometimes when I have added songs to existing albums those new songs are separated and appear with the same cover art but as a separate album entry under the same name.

Any work around this? Thanks.

Hi,

From what I can see, this is working correctly. The reason for the 'duplicates' is that in the 'Artists & Album Artists' view, MMA displays entries for both Artists and Album Artists. For instance, in the case of Album=Garden State Soundtrack, it would display the entire album for Album Artist='Various', and the tracks by individual artists for Artist='The Shins', Artist='Frou Frou' etc.

If you prefer to browse only by Album Artist, you can use the Album Artist view (Options > Customize home screen).
