Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat update #1
Tried again on my HTC One M8 and while the first sync works, on subsequent syncs, it tries to download again in a different location and creates a big mess.
Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat update #1
I'm having this problem with the latest mediamonkey beta (1.0.6.0291) installed from Google Play. The internal storage shows up, but the microSD cannot be seen in mediamonkey - even under Choose Library Folder.
The microSD show up fine in both other music players I have tried.
This also happens with the released MediaMonkey Pro for Android.

Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat update #1
I'm running MMW (1708) as a service on a Server 2012 R2 (it's a DC and yes, I know that's a no-no). I just got a LG G3 (Verizon VS985) running KitKat (4.4.2) and have MMA (Pro). I installed the Pro unlocker and Beta (291) given some of the notes above. The phone is rooted and I adjusted the platform.xml (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE).
3 problems:
1. MMW - It won't list the external card in the Portable Devices Sync window. It will find the internal card, but i've disabled that sync location so the checkbox is unchecked. As far as I can tell, MMW doesn't know about the external SD.
Note: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (WiFi only model P900) running rooted, stock KitKat 4.4.2 and it registers both the internal and external cards. I didn't have to adjust platform.xml on that device so there is something odd/different about how LG set up the G3. Yes, I have WiFi enabled and I'm on the local network/subnet and I've got the Device Profile set up right (I've been doing this since early v4 betas). I've tried DHCP and static on the phone with no change.
2. MMA - Given #1, the only way I can select music is through the Wi-Fi Sync | Sync Location/Settings | [My device] External Storage | Auto-sync server content menu (i'm using pipe "|" to separate the menus). MMW doesn't know about the external SD but MMA knows about MMW and allows me to pick from the properly displaying MMW library.
3. MMA - I can get it to sync to the external SD, but I have to pick the music from the External Storage | Auto-sync server content menu in MMA. I cleared cache and data before doing the next step because I wanted to make sure I could recreate this folder structure. MMA is creating a recursive folder structure:
/storage/external_SD/Android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkeybeta/files/Android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkeybeta/files/Android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkeybeta/files/Music/[artists].
It creates 3 levels of the same folder structure. It's "working", but I don't think this folder structure is intended.

This still happens with build 292 as well. Sure hope it gets fixed soon - MM is pretty useless on this device otherwise.

Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat upd [#115
turned out to be a failing card. false alarm

Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat upd [#115
If your Card simply got empty and phone requested Format you maybe got corrupted card on writing.
It happened for me once
I fixed it with inserting card in reader and done manual formating.

Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat upd [#115
yeah, it would not even format in windows thru a reader... seems to have gotten busted on 4.3 > 4.4.2 android update. other ppl have reported similar circumstances.
Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat upd [#115
here is how I fixed it:
1. Start "compmgmt.msc /s" from command prompt
2. Go to Storage -> Disk Management
3. Locate affected Card under lover(higher disk numbers) and it should be set as RAW and check disk size as you surely do not want to wipe you HDD
4. Right click Delete partition (Ignore warnings)
5. Apply Changes
6. Try to create new partition (has to be primary and fat32 ??? do not why first needs to ne like that afterwards extended fat was working)
7. Apply changes
If nothing help I would also try to use free edition of http://www.partitionwizard.com/ and please let me know if anything helped.
Be careful as I'm giving you this as my personal suggestion not official one in front of Ventis Media or MMW and can't be held reliable for any damage in case it happen.

Re: Ext SDcard unavailable in Options after KitKat upd [#115
fat32 was intact. i could read any/all the files. it just would not write/format. could've tried your suggestion, but already sent it off for replacement (transcend is great about that
