Playlists auto deleted from my external sd card! [#12608]

Post by nonob »

Hi,

After a usb sync from mmw to mma i have my playlists copied to my directory "Playlists" on the root of my external sd card.

After some minutes, adn i don't know if mma is the caused, all my playlists files are deleted !

I had last mmw and mma stable version so i updated MMW stable to test 4.1.6.1728 and MMA stable to beta 1.1.0.0395 and did a new usb sync with following options on mmw :

Force relative path and unicode checked.

I unplugged my android and check the presence of my playlists on my external card : ok.

I start a new mma scan, it finish. I go to playlists in mma : nothing ! I check my playlist directory on my external sd card : empty !

What's the pb ?

My phone is the motorola moto g 2 with Android 5.02.

Send a debug log from MMA (from About screen) right after you notice the loss of Playlists. Reference the log ID here.

Are you on Android 4.4 or newer?

Hi,
I try that :
Force stop mma, manually copied playlists files from a zip backup i made just before : nothing is deleted after several hours.
Then i started mma : playlists are instantly deleted!

This is the debug log just after that Log ID: ZGU32C9GLZ
Description: Playlists deleted

I sent io you by mail from about mma.

I have a Motorola Moto G 2 running Android 5.0.2.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks. It should be resolved in build 398.

Tracked here: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=12608

Hi,
Thanks :)

I updated to 398 and re-added my playlists (i backed up them).

I started mma 398 and start a new scan : it stopped after some seconds and no playlists were added.

I check my playlist files : they are always here :)

I try to "delete data" from app information then restart a media scan : again it stopped after some seconds and i'm suprised because all my music is already displayed.
Is the "clear data" from app info is a good way to refresh my library ?
How can i force mma to refresh my playlists ? i could uninstall and reinstall sit but maybe there is another way ?

Hi,
I did a fresh install by following these steps :

http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... an-install

It seems to be good know but i have a question :

By defaults, some folders are checked in directory watching in mma settings : "ventismedia", etc. both on internal and external memory.

Should i leave it checked if all my music is in another folder ?

By default, content is synced to the 'ventismedia' directory on the SD card (since MMA is prevented by kitkat (on most devices) from writing to shared directories) so you should probably leave such directories checked.

Hi,
Sorry for my late reply.
Thanks for this information. So, should i use these directories when i sync music (wifi or usb) from mmw to my phone ?
If yes, should i only if i am concerned by write restriction on kitkat ?

Actually, i use a mask on mmw to copy the same structure to my external sd card :
<Répertoire:-n>\<Nom du fichier> (in french)

Is it a bad idea ? What issue could i have if i do this with a kitkat device with write restriction ?

MediaMonkey normally automatically chooses the best directory location to write based on the OS so that it can successfully write to the destination directory. On kitkat devices that'll be a location prefixed with \Android\data\com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkeybeta\files\Music\...

For more about this, see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... teddeleted
