Post by quentinjs@gmail.com »

On link http://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/webhelp/f ... evices.htm

It mentions
3. Select the 'Generic Portable/Audio Device' plug-in and press 'Configure'

I do not have this on eiiher computer I have installed MM on. I am using Win10 and Win 8 respectively.

Please advise how to add this driver to the list.

That's the Help for MediaMonkey 3. You'll need: http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brows ... e-plug-in/

When my phone is connected to the computer it has to have a drive letter to make this work? My Samsung 5 has never connected like that.

EDIT: I have discovered that the USB Mass Storage option has been removed by Google so newer phones like mine does not do this. So how do I synch ratings now?

Why are you looking to use the USBMass plugin for your Android device? Just use d_WMDM.dll.

Because I want to synch my ratings and it is not working with the default driver and the Sync back script.

For that you'll need to use the default plugin. Are you using MediaMonkey on your device?

I have the MM BETA on my Samsung S6 phone and the latest MM for Windows on my Win10 & Win7 machines.

Then Ratings should not be a problem. They should sync MMW > MMA and if set to do MMA > MMW.

4050 songs on Android.

* Synch starts
* tells me 4055 songs etc. I select yes.
* hour goes by and its done about a thousand songs...
* walk away and machine
* machine goes to sleep.
* Wake up laptop. It shows me a huge list of songs that it could not complete. ----> whats the point of wasting my time with a list because every song was inaccessible.
* Try again
* tells me 4055 songs etc. I select yes. ----> I am sure its done some songs in the first pass. Why is it telling me 4055 songs STILL need to be updated. If its ever song failing then TELL ME NOW not 5 hours from now.
--- Ratings used to be quick (like minutes), not sure what happened in the past few weeks but if I now need to sit watching my computer for 5 hours for it to update the ratings, whats the point in that? Sorry but I can't do that daily, or EVER.

Then capture it in a debug log (step 4b) and send it to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=12&t=69

Understanding sync (Sasung S6)

Post by quentinjs@gmail.com »

I started this topic in http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 12&t=82908 but it makes more sense here.

Problem
My ratings synch is not working and the synch feels it needs to copy 4,000+ files each time.

What I have noticed is that I now have file XXX, File XXX (1), .... File XXX (9) in many cases. some are just (2) and (3) which means when the file is copied back its creating a new file instead of over writing the orginal. Not sure why its doing this as only thhe META data may have changed.

So I had a brilliant Idea, I would just coopy my entire Musiic folder from the phone to my external RAID drive via my laptop. Which I did.
THEN I asked MM to add/Update itself. Which it did
BUT None of the ratings seemed to havee updated. I have 400 songs rated 1 star on my phone. Only 7 on my file system. And still only 7 after the copy.

My question are:
1.Where are the song ratings kept if not in the actual song files?
2. If copying them doesn't copy the ratings, then why is MM not doing it?
