Organize compositions broken into segments
I hope this is the right forum. I can't even think of a brief title to give this question. I have been using Media Monkey for years and it's one of the reasons I don't mind too much coming back to Windows from Linux. My drive had to be wiped and I have been rebuilding my music library. This time I'm mostly keeping albums in separate folders, works better, but I have a problem with several classical albums. The CDs have several compositions on them, for example four or five sonatas, and the tracks are the different movements within the composition, adagio, fuga allegro, andante, etc. Usually when I listen I want to listen to the whole sonata or symphony. It's annoying to have to select the separate parts. I suppose I could use Audacity to merge the tracks, but I started wondering if there's some way Media Monkey can do this so I don't have to modify the files. For example, looking at J.S. Back - Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin (disc 1), I have track 1, Sonata No. 1 in G Minor -Adagio; track 2, Sonata No. 1 in G Minor - Fuga Allegro; track 3, Sonata No. 1 in G Minor - Siciliana; track 4, Sonata No. 1 in G Minor - Presto; and I want to stop before going on to track 5, Partita No 1 in B Minor - Allemanda. I suspect this question has been answered before, but I can't think of a decent set of keywords to search on. I suppose I could make a separate playlist for each composition. That would be a little tiresome, but would be a one-time job.

If there's something unique in the tags it could be used when organizing files.

What you want is the extension Linked Tracks. Does just what you want by linking the various tracks via an entry in custom 5 (though you can change which custom field it uses. http://forum.mediamonkey.com/viewtopic. ... ks#p422450
