Importing Album Art [#13972]

Post by dbk227 »

Hello:

When you import files into MediaMonkey, if the artwork isn't embedded in the tracks, MM will import image files in the same directory as the audio files. MM will tag these files with an image type, if the image name has certain strings (i.e. "Back" will load in as Cover (back)). My question is there a listing of the crosswalk between image name and Image Type? Couldn't find this in the wiki or anywhere else, but I could have missed it.

Thanks

Just filenames are deciding.

Great question and insight.

I've got a 50k file library and 6 months ago took a look and I had 15k .jpg album art files. It took months of work to get the album-art files to be embedded in the tags. I had to walk every single album, one-by-one, to cleanse any art in the files and then pick the one .jpg I wanted and had MM embed only that. It was a brutal process, but I looked at MM's competition and determined only MM had the ability to tackle this.

Hi,
That is exactly what we are talked about earlier and it is still in effect now. So if MMW automatically done all that suffer for you there would be >90% chances that all of your files would have Album art not satisfying for you. At least now you have cleaned library and make it like you want.

ok, but there are some filenames that don't do quite what you expect:

"Front.jpg" imports as "Cover (Front)", but "cover.jpg" will not
"babygotback.jpg" imports as "Cover (Back)", so the text string just needs to be in the name
"cd.jpg" will import as "Media Label"
the options lower on the dropdown list ("Artist", "Conductor", "Band", etc.) don't work at all ("Artist.jpg" will import as "not specified")

Since this is coded into MM, there has to be a list somewhere of the mappings. I've gone through my library and figured some of these out, but I'd like to get a definitive list. That's what I'm looking for.

Thanks

ok, sounds like a good idea to expand the options. But, I'll ask one more time, is there a listing somewhere of what the keywords are within MM right now for importing Album Art? It isn't doing it with magic, there has to be code somewhere.

Thanks for everything. Big fan of MM.
