Hello,
I live in Italy, and was wondering if you are planning to release
localized (translated) versions of MediaMonkey. There are several
friends of mine who would like to use the program but are scared by
the English interface...
If you are interested, I could volunteer for translating the menus and messages to Italian.
Regards,

Translation offered

Readying MediaMonkey for Localization
Readying MediaMonkey for localization is a fairly high priority. We'd like MediaMonkey 2.1 to be localization-ready however it's too early to tell--although much of the groundwork has been prepared, we've deferred completing this until the UI text/structure stabilizes a bit more (as you can see there were large changes from Songs-DB to MediaMonkey and we expect that there'll be a bit more UI work in the next release).
Like I said, it's high priority--but even more important is stabilizing the UI so that localization work won't be obsolete by the time it's published.

Sorry
Sorry, I don´t really feel up to creating a whole translation package (Worried with the helpfile, quite extensive) but I can review the Dutch and German interface. And if nobody is found for the Spanish one I can help check that one too.
My question is how would this be handled. Will the program be offered completely in a foreign language. Or will a user be able to download the english version and download language packs like plugins, even allowing the user to switch?

Thanks to everyone for the offers of localization. Again, I want to re-iterate that we do want to go ahead with this once the UI stabilizes a bit more-I'd hate for people to work on localizing the software and for their work to be made irrelevant because of major UI changes.
The 'how' of localization is still somewhat up in the air, as we haven't finalized the tool that we'll be using, nor whether to have a single installer that allows the user to select a language, or multiple installers (1 per language).

Ideas
The question is how big the program would be with all the languages included.
Some options are:
Just one language per installer
Base installer with main 5 (or so) world languages, additional languages are downloaded as add-ons
All languages are in one installer
Or like TextPad offer seperate and a all languages combined installer.
It would be nice if MM would be able to switch languages easily from within the program.
My guess the main issue is the download size which is limiting to dialup users and your servers.
Good luck
