Currently evaluating MM5 for Windows. Questions

Post by jwhitworth »

I have noticed that the pop up menu that appears when I right click a track is "clipped" I am running Windows 11 Pro with a 4K monitor. I have modified the "Scale & Layout" - "Scale" to 150% (if that matters)? Is this an issue with not actually having bought a new license? This would be a deal breaker. Also I thought that at the bottom of that pop up menu would be "Properties"

Upon further use I notice that all menus are truncated. What is going on?

After more tinkering. Have to leave text size setting at 100%. Any increase messes up MM5. I have no intention of running my system at such small font size.

Tried MM2024 and problem persists.

Using latest build 5.0.5.2695

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey 2024 and which Skin are you still seeing this with?

3043. With the MetroM (Classic) skin.

It even happens when I run the system at 1080. The changing of text size in the accessibility setting is the culprit.

Please update to the latest MediaMonkey 2024 release which is currently 3078.

Please let us know if the issue isn't already fixed for you.

Is Windows 11 up-to-date? I have no issues with either font size or everything set to 150% (on Windows 10). Do you see the same issue with the Material Design Skin?

Yes. Windows 11 is up to date.

There are two places to adjust scaling.

The first is Setting -> System -> Display -> Scale & Layout -> Scale -> 150% recommended. Changing this to the 150% recommended does not create a problem for Media Monkey. That setting also leaves text size too small for me.

The second place is under Setting -> Accessibility - Text Size. If any increase (even to something insignificant like 103%) is made to this setting Media Monkey will truncate/clip menu pop ups.

So you're adjusting both settings? Even then I can't reproduce on 2024.0.0.3078 and Win10. This should've been fixed already. Asked a developer on Win11 to check.

My desire is to run my system in 4K with both setting at 150%. The culprit seems to be the Accessibility text size scaling. My system is as follows:

Windows 11 Pro
ASUS ROG Strix B760-I motherboard
Intel Core i7-12700K
SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280

Hi,

I've tested this on Win11 (2560x1080, text scale 150%) and am not seeing any issues.

Note: Setting -> System -> Display -> Scale & Layout -> Scale -> Text Size is a shortcut to the accessibility setting. Maybe try via that approach?

p.s. does restarting MM after you've made the change solve anything?

When I change Display -> Scale & Layout -> Scale -> Text Size to 150% it does not change the Accessibility Text Size setting. They appear independent.

I close all programs when making changes.

Is this Windows 11 23H2 or 24H2?

I have tested it on 23H2 with all updates, and with both settings you said you changed, my menu's look good.
I kept all programs open, when i did the changes..

For dev's: Could upgrade from 5.0.5.2695 to 2024 cause any issues with an old json file or something like that?

23H2

This system was built over a year ago but I kept using an old system (did not want to mess with the migration). I installed MediaMonkey_5.0.4.2693 but I did not really change any settings and notice the problem back then. I recently decided to deploy the new machine and updated to 2095. That was the first time I noticed the issue.

Can you make a printscreen of how to menu's look truncated, and upload it to imgur.com and post a link back?
