This has been requested before, and I hope it will be possible in some next version (it doesn't really have to be resizable; just a larger fixed size would be ok too).
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).
Not exactly what you asked for but if you hit F3 you get the search window which has a wider search field.
