Auto-Tag from Amazon Problem with MM 3.0

Post by cmx »

When using the Amazon Auto-Tag feature with 3.0 the Song title list is doubled here.

This happens with every Auto-tag invocation here.

This seems more of a cosmetic issue than a functional one...as the tracks seem to actually be tagged correctly when applied.

Note that there are only 12 Tracks on the album...but MM 3.0 is repeating the original list and continuing the increment...

P.S. (Thanks for the new changes "Highlight"!)

I think that's by design. Sort of a before and after display.

yes, Marine...that's why I noted the "changes" Highlight addition of the comparison display...but there are NOT 24 tracks on the Album as is displayed in the upper section of the display...that is an obvious error. On multiple disk album sets you can imagine the confusion that can occur....it gets very messy here.

According to Amazon (what you see in the upper section of the display), there are 24 tracks on the album (be it on one or multiple cd's).
MediaMonkey v3 just does the same as it did in v2, except that it now adds the gray (previous state) track listings too (consistent with e.g. Auto-Organize).
The wish to retreive multi-cd albums (disc numbers and numbering per disc) for Tag From Amazon is still standing.
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).

I don't think MM 2 (or Amazon) does this. I believe the upper portion of the screen is an MM 3 issue. It happens with every album I try to tag with Amazon. Track list is repeated and therefore shows twice as many tracks.

The grayed Lines are the Tags as they are now in MediaMonkey.
The white Lines are, how the Tags will be after Auto-Tag from Amazon.

That's correct how it is.

I think I understand what the real issue is.

The Amazon track listing is listing the track list twice. We are only talking about the album information on top.

I've posted another example. The Roots - Game Theory - only has 13 tracks. The preview lists 26 tracks. Look at track one and track 14. Same song.

This cannot be intentional. It wouldn't make sense to anyone.

Steegy, There are NOT 24 tracks on the Album, and MM 2.0 does not create the erroneous "double entries" as described in the first post.
Note that there are only 12 Tracks on the album...but MM 3.0 is repeating the original list and continuing the increment...
Refer to liger's post for an additional example....I am very pleased with the new previous/changed state display, it a a great addition and very handy here as I tried to note in the initial post...
Additionally there is no real problem with the way multiple disk album data is retrieved from Amazon....I am happy with the way it is currently done in MM 2.0...it is just very confusing trying to tag when the Track list is in the hundreds and it is doubled....as before this seems to just be a cosmetic issue and hopefully it can easily be remedied.

Here is a screen shot of MM 2.0 displaying the "upper Amazon portion" correctly:

Onkel, hopefully this makes it clearer as to what I am talking about....

Sorry for the confusion, I thought I made the distinction between the previous/changed state ""Highlight" in the bottom frame and the retreived Amazon info in the upper portion...

Thanks for any consideration on this issue.

Yes, the problem is very clear now. It certainly is an important one to solve.

Steegy, I don't know about "important"....as I am getting very frequent lock-ups and many more serious errors and problems with MM 3.0. MM 3.0 generated about a dozen emails here yesterday due to MM "freeze-ups".

This issue: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15511 is MUCH more important to me...yet no one has seemed to respond or note the issue elsewhere...

I just took the time to point out an obvious error that IS important in my daily use of MM as clearly as I could.

Thanks for any help in getting it remedied as priority demands.
