MM3 insists on auto-syncing ipod upon connection

Post by FadeToBolivia »

This has happened with each alpha of MM3. Each time I connect my ipod nano to my computer, MM3 opens and syncs it. I have unchecked the "auto-sync as soon as the device is connected" option.

This shouldn't be caused by MM, don't you possibly have MM synchronization associated with iPod, so that Windows starts it everytime iPod is connected?

Hmm well Ive searched high and low for a way to disable it and cant find it. How do I change the association?

I tried going into ituned and enabling the option to auto-start itunes - but then both MM and itunes start upon connect. And then MM3 still wants to auto-sync on connect.

MM3 also auto-syncs if MM was open prior to connecting the ipod.

The biggest reason this bothers me is because I can't perform a firmware reset/upgrade on the ipod because as it is reseting during the process, MM3 jumps in and interupts it by syncing.

I mean that dialog that Windows shows when a device is connected - you can select MM there and set to always use that application when this device is connected. I'm not sure how to disable this, except for going into registry.

Maybe here...

...with your device inserted...

Right click on "My Computer", select manage.
Go to Disk Management.
Right click on the device, select Properties/Autoplay tab.
