Album art does not work with FLAC files
Moderator: Gurus
I was not talking about embedded album art but about album art which is only _linked_ to the flac files. And as mentioned, this happens only with file monitor on, so it has nothing to do with missing support for embedded album art in the present version of MM (since it works if you turn file monitor off).

HMMM... Interesting. and that only happeneds with FLAC not other File Formats that do not support AA embedded (WAV or MPC).

Ok, here's a step by step procedure to reproduce this bug:
1. Be sure to set file monitoring for your music directory in the options and even the option "Start-up Scan" to Yes.
2. Right click in the album art pane and select "Album Art (Selected)" that you see the effect without the necessity to play songs.
3. In the navigation tree go to the album node, open it and select an album comprising FLAC files which have no album art assigned.
4. In the navigation tree right click on the selected album and choose "Auto-Tag from Amazon".
5. If album art is found, be sure that the checkboxes for cover and on the left of all tracks are checked to save album art for all songs of the album (Note that I have ONLY these checkboxes checked and all others unchecked).
6. Click on the Options button an select "Ask where to save image".
7. Click on the Auto-Tag button.
8. In the next dialog select "Save image to album folder" and click on OK.
9. After MM has downloaded the album art click on OK.
10. If you now immediately select some of the tracks of the current album in the track pane you will see the just saved album art.
11. If you then select another album in the navigation tree and select some other songs (or only wait some time) and then again select the album for which you just downloaded and saved the album art, this album art will no longer be shown in the album art pane (this is empty again). This happens also if you simply continously click on different tracks of the album without changing album. For example if immediately after saving the album art the first track is selected and album art is shown you can select track 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 2, 4, 1, 5 and so on and suddenly for the tracks album art is no longer shown.
12. Close MM and restart it. MM will scan your music directory. After scanning has finished select the same album and album art is shown for all tracks.
If you make the same steps but with file monitoring off, album art is saved and stays saved.
I hope I did not forget anything and you can reproduce this bug.

Ok, could you try this way on any FLAC:
1. Browse My Computer to file
2. Select file
3. D&D Image to Cover Panel (Cover is set to "Album Art (Selected)")
4. Select "Link to Image File" and Press OK
5. Press F5 to refresh Track view
Note: File must not be in Library or folder contain that file be monitored
If No Image is shown after refresh then you really found a bug and it will be fixed.

@Dieter
Re "or folder contain that file be monitored": It measns that you create one folder (example c:\Flac Bug Test) and copy that file to folder to ensure that before you browse thrum "My Computer" Node MM do not know about that file (File is not needed to be FLAC it can be MP3, OGG or any other. you can even test it on different files and types)
Re Step 3: Yes, D&D from Explorer and MM should show you Add Image Dialog where you select Link to file not Save to Tag.

Should that folder containing the test file be within my music directory which MM is montoring or outside of it?
I have the impression that the problem only exists if the flac file will be touched by the monitoring process (since when monitoring is turned off the problem does not exist and since there is a short delay until the art disappears after the file has been tagged).

Hmm. I'm new to MediaMoney. Just registered it and tried out 2.5.4. It did not support embedded album art in FLAC files. But after reading this and looking at the 1.1.3 specification of FLAC, it now seems to be solved.
I just now installed the release 2.5.5.996. But I can't find any way to embedd the album art. The option '( ) Save image to tag (if possible)' is always greyed out. Am I missing something ?

1.1.3 is not implemented in MM 2.5.5, it should be in mm 3.0 to enter alpha test soon (tm).
