Peke:
I do have it connected via usb, when I first bought the keyboard the manual said something about those three buttons being for settings within the media program. I think it was WMP at the time but I wasn't willing to switch to WMP just to get them to work. They are some extra buttons and I have not missed them all this time so I am not that eager to play around with them to try to get them to work. All the standard Multimedia buttons which have hotkeys within MM are working and that is good enough for me. I might try to play around with new volume up and down hotkeys because that turnstile is really sensitive and I end up blaring my ears out, but I am rambling now. I say all this to say, all my relevant buttons are working. But since you brought up the setpoint software, if I uninstall it how will I setup the other non-multimedia keys to work with my preferred programs?? And before anyone suggests it (RC) I once tried the Microsoft Intellitype drivers and it does not work for all of my keys so it is not worth the trouble for me.

Sorry if I was not clear enough. I've not mean that you do SetPoint uninstall (good thing is that you didn't do it), but just close that resident app (SetPoint) in system tray which will give MM opportunity to detect all key Commands, multimedia or not. After Restart all will go back where it was.

It didn't work, but I don't think they will. These are the buttons I am talking about, the three on the top. Sorry it's not a very good pic:

Here's the instructions on what they are supposed to do but I cannot get them to work:

Here's the instructions on what they are supposed to do but I cannot get them to work:
Code: Select all
Provides one touch access to your three favorite Internet radio stations or playlists, like the buttons on a car radio:
• Store a station or playlist. While using Windows Media Player or Musicmatch Jukebox to listen to a playlist or Internet music service or station, press and hold a preset button for about two seconds. This locks the details into the button's memory.
• Choose a stored preset. Simply short-press the relevant preset button to automatically launch your preferred media player, and play the station or playlist.
At any point you can replace a preset with a different one by selecting the new station or playlist, and then pressing and holding the preset button.

it says those two it means those two only. and it says your preferred player later in that note, meaning the one you prefer of the two it uses.Windows Media Player or Musicmatch Jukebox
it has software made to work with them. some one would have to make a script for monkey to see one of those software programs code and use it to see the buttons. in effect making monkey look like it is one of the preferred programs.

That was my interpretation also but since it was not that important to me to have playlists easily accessible, I never bothered with them. I am still content to let them sit there taking up space.

Re: 1202: MutiMedia buttons BUG#2430
oh in that case then you can try another thing. if you want how much do you do hardware tinkering?
the keyboard should be a shell of two or more plastic parts.
and inside those parts should be a pair of printed plastic circut borads one positive one negitive,
you could take the board apart and look for where those three buttons are at on the plastic circuit boards.
drill a hole or cut half a hole on each side of the seem of where the plastic halfs meet when put together.
very very VERY carfully scrap some of the plastic protection from the the printed circuit board, either pos or neg.
and connect a thin wire thin because those plastic circut boards are made by silk screen printing. so the circut on them is just silver ink, but if you get a thin wire to it you can use that to power on a usb led or some other item.
it would have to use very little power but you could make those buttons in to switches for other things.
i know i know i spend too much time tweaking things.

Re: 1202: MutiMedia buttons BUG#2430
No thank you, that is definately not something I want to do just to use three buttons which I have not used in almost two years. I am content, but thanks for the suggestion. They are just fine just sitting there collecting dust. If I need more custom buttons, there are still some left that I can use the setpoint software to set to meet my needs.
