And even using waveOut, the popping still gets sent to the iPod if I convert the format as part of the copying. If I just send a WAV file to the iPod without conversion, there's a loud pop at the end of tracks when I play it back on the iPod.

So basically, I have to use waveOut and I can't convert formats.

None of this is a problem with other players and converters. Just MM. OK, that's it for me - sorry for all the posts.

Are you sure this isn't isolated only to wav files due to a previous bug, now resolved?

Unfortunately I'm sure. Non-WAV files have the same problem. And the problem still is there even in the latest beta. <sigh> Back to iTunes? God forbid...

Yes, I can replicate. Perfectly now. It happens between every track, no matter which output plugin I use.

I just switched to 1277 and, at least after four songs, the problem is gone. Fingers firmly crossed.

I should have mentioned that I tried to see if the problem happens with WinAmp and it doesn't.

Theloniuscoltrane,

Are the repro steps on your system identical to Josh's? i.e. the problem always occurs for synching, and always occurs on playback except if volume leveling is enabled using the waveout plugin?

Josh & Thelonius,

Did you previously use MM 3.1.1? Did the problem occur then?

Thanks!

on an off the wall guess rusty. since this is coming and going for him.

i'm thinking that it could be the same thing causing the cpu to go to full useage since posts about that seem to be appearing around the same time he is posting about this sound error. and a fully used cpu has caused noise in sound before. so that might be the missing key to the puzzle? :-?

I thought about that as well, so I rebooted the computer and with nothing else going, just MM, tried again, and the noise was there. I think it is important that it is at the beginning of the song, not at the end of the other.

At the moment, the noise is only happening at the beginning of WAV files.

Finally, I've had MM (the paid-for version) for about two years. And though I can't remember exactly when it started, everything seemed to go south after installing the new stuff from Apple a while ago.

Thelonius,

So enabling volume leveling while using the wav_out plugin doesn't solve the problem for you?

Rusty, 3.1.1 was when this all started for me -- I had hoped the 3.1.2 betas would get rid of the problem. I think 3.1.0 might have been fine, or am I thinking of 3.0? I wish I could remember.

It is working so far like that, but it is my least favorite output plug. I want to use the Monkey Direct or ASIO. What is different here and isn't it fixable?

I wonder, does the problem happen only on the Debug build, or have you also tried the Standard build?
