DaledeSilva wrote:Hi guys,
at the moment, the main hurdle that's affecting this script for some people manifests as these things:

- double clicking on an album (or any other gesture) does not queue or start any music.
- exiting the visual options says saving, but doesn't actually save. (ini files should appear in the scripts/auto/PrettyPictures/Cache/ directory.
- expanding and contracting the window doesn't work

If you are experiencing these issues, please post what operating system you are using, and if you are using any spyware protectino programs or anything else that might affect your settings (like registry mechanic).

at the moment I'm stump and the only thing I can think of is to format my computer.. but that will only fix it for me, which isn't an option.

thanks,
Dale.

Like I said earlier

Windows XP, Registry Mechanic, Arovax AntiSpyware...
I just wanted to mention that enabling or disabling the optimize function of Registry Mechanic changes nothing...
Hope you find out the issue!!

Yes, that is what I have discovered. Thanks for looking into it.

I will see what I can do about moving the next one - I expect it won't be a problem. (maybe it'll even fix our other problem... that would be a miracle!)

Hi Everyone,
I've uploaded another version:
http://www.oiltinman.com/downloads/scri ... 92#more-12

the only change is that the files now reside in the mediamonkey directory in the users appdata directory.
This will hopefully fix renowden's problem of users with less privilege rights not being able to use it.

Dale.

ps. if you have it working or if you don't have it working.. please let me know so that I can gauge how well it is working and where things are falling over.
thanks alot.

No change for me. Click unreactive... Install went ok, caching as well.
What would be interesting is to know what config people that have PP working got. XP, logged as Admin, RMechanic optimize disabled. The only runnibg protective app I have is Avast...

Same here, PP caches now with 0.92 (yeah one step further), but no reaction to clicks or drags other than the white frame expanding and going back to normal. Vista Ultimate 32, logged in as Admin, MM running as admin, UAC in quiet mode.
Thanks - Mike

I'm VERY impressed with this script!!! Makes flicking through my collection a real joy (as well as making me slightly obsessive about finding album art - must also congratulate Trixmoto's Batch Art Finder script).

Overall it's working fine on my Windows XP Pro 32-bit.

Minor bug: the auto contract/expand isn't working all the time. Typically it's working at the moment as I test it so can't replicate the issue, but has been flaky.

Other functional touches I'd like:
  • Not having to click on the window to activate it. I think you've mentioned this in another post.
Have a track list pop-up window when single click on album image; could then choose single track to play.
Somehow have it automagically know when new album art has been added (more to do with me being lazy).
Thanks again Dale - this is exactly what I've been after for ages.

I'm aware this is flakey.. but won't be able to fix it anytime soon.

yeah.. unfortunately, this is a problem I can't seem to work around.

interesting Idea.. I'll keep it in mind for the future

Already does..
by default, PP scans once per day for new covers... however, in the options (tools / options /doen the bottom) you can change it to scan everytime you open MM.

thanks for the feedback.

The update seems to fix the caching problem for non-admin users, though the install is a bit tricky requiring to be done first as admin to load the stuff into ProgramFiles and then as the user to do the local bits. Also, after starting for the first time, I had to force kill it a couple of times when the initial caching seemed to go into a loop displaying messages.

I realised after my initial posting a couple of days ago that I had actually installed a VERY old version because the "download" link on the web site (RH sidebar) points to an old 0.51 exe copy rather than the newer mmip version. That would account for why you didn't recognise the line numbers.

does a user without admin privileges have the ability to install any mediamonkey scripts? - my script uses the standard MM method of installing - there is no way to call the current users local appData directory with it.

I have to install to there and then upon first run, copy the files to the AppData directory (that's how I do it currently)...
would it work better if I installed it to C:\PrettyPictures and hten copied it from there?

when did the loop happen? as the user or the admin? what were the messages and did MM lock up or just get stuck in a loop?

thanks for your feedback.

Hello,

I am experiencing the looping sensation as described earlier which happened both as the user and as admin. Hundreds of windows kept opening up stating that since this was the first time I used the program that I needed to do a cache of the images. Also the cache did not progress unless you rapidly tried to close the messages in succession. Once the images were cached plus a subsequent force kill and restart of MM3 took place the problem was nolonger apparent.

Also, it was impossible for me to install the script without running MediaMonkey as an administrator which as a new vista user I was unaware was needed (since I have an admin account) and was the main reason I came into this thread looking for help on the install.

ninjapanda has relayed my experience exactly, the only difference is that I am running XP-Pro. Yes, I had to first run MM from admin to install the script (something that goes against the grain). That worked without problem, but the library was empty as I have never used it. Then running from my work "limited" account I got the loop as described by ninjapanda. No amount of fast clicking would clear it for me so I killed the process. I had to do this a couple of times before it realised that it was no longer a new install and would proceed with the caching properly.

I think the only way you are likely to resolve the problem is to create a fresh "Limited User Account" and try it for yourself, preferably from a bare MM install with no past history.

Another glitch I came across is not your fault at all, though it may be worth mentioning in the help. It wouldn't recognise or find my install of Flash. I am a FireFox user and had the latest Flash version installed but PP uses IE I think and you need to install Flash from an IE session (as well) to get it hooked in as an IE plugin.

Well I can't get it to run to save my life in MM3. The latest error I am getting is this one" error #76 - Microsoft VBScript runtime error " or Error executing script event when I tell it to cache my album pictures. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times.

Here are a list of errors I keep getting

Error #-2147024726 File: "E:\Applications _Drivers\MediaMonkey\scripts\auto\PrettyPictures.vbs", Line:874, Column:2

D:\Documents and Settings\Peerless\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\PrettyPictures\FlashPage.html
The directory name is invalid.

Please help I love this plug in!

Daledesilva, I have experienced the looping on install as well, I'm running as admin on Vista Home Premium without an active antivirus or spyware cleaner. After I killed MM via the Task Manager, the script started working without any problems. Love your script :D
