I don't know exactly when it will be released because I have a lot work to do at the moment and in 3 weeks my studies will begin. But I hope I can release it in october.

It will probably be a major update because there will (hopefully) be some new features. The biggest improvement will probably be that you can change the formula by yourself in the optionsheet. But there will also be some other improvements like some optimizations in the handling of "bad" songs, the interface and maybe the performance will be improved again. Another idea I have to check is a "compatibility mode" which will use the default ratings of MM but don't support features like "Keep manual ratings" and "SkipDetection". Maybe there will be other new features too, I don't know yet. My ideas often come when I'm doing something completely else.

By the way: The new version will be completely compatible with the recent version. So you use this in the meanwhile.

it is getting big. take it easy and don't burn out on the large scripts.

well I think, that size doesn't really matter IF the script is bug-free and stable, IF the software doesn't get slow and IF it isn't too complicated for beginners. This is the case I think, because in the last version there isn't a know bug at the moment, the last version is the fastest version ever and the last versionis very easy to use for beginners. They don't need to change anything!
The new version will get even easier because I move the "complicated" into a "Advanced" subsheet. And I also simplified some parts of the code by the way.

So I promise that I won't integrate features that slow down the script, make it unstable and make it more complicated - and I try to avoid the use of additional custom-fields. This are my basic principles.

I hope this is ok.

hehe, exactly this two things I want to implement.

But the button won't have "Auto Rating accurate (on\off)" because if you want to use the script it should be on. If not you get inaccurate ratings.

By the way, you also can change the SkipDetection-values in the version 1.5.

Just open AutoRateAcc.vbs and change the lines 26 and 27. The default values are:

I skipped track with unknown rating and script auto rated track. Why? (For tracks with rating MinSkip time worked)

Yes, that's because every track gets rated after listening. Only the SkipCounter will not increase with SkipCounter disabled. And if you skip a song before 33% MM will not increase the playcounter and the script gives the lowest rating.
I'll fix it in the next version.

Hi guys,
unfortunately I haven't so much time for developing my script as I begin with my studies on Tuesday. Because of that I'll release a new version 1.55 which basicly only has bugfixes and minor improvements. The interface and the new features will come in 1.6 or 2.0.

Changelog 1.55:
-Added: Confirmations on the "more"-functions. (Thanks kanski)
-Changed: Improved SkipDetection&SkipCounter for a mor accurate rating of "bad" songs.
-Fixed: MinSkip didn't work correctly for songs with PlayCounter=0 (Thanks kanski)
-Fixed some minor (but important) bugs.

I'll test it some days before I'll release it because some major (internal) changes were made.

A new feature of itunes 7/the newest firmware is the sklpcounter. Any chance of using this to add to your own skipcount? Maybe a good thing to beg for in the wishlist?

Most of my music is used on my ipod, this would make things so much more accurate.

Also, one issue with an unplayed library. I don't have many played songs and it rates every song as a 5. Any chance of making songs that it is... confused by as a 3 rated song?
