I'm trying to change the order of the tracks so that they play in the order I want them to. I don't want a random play. Nor do I want them played by artist, genre, etc. I'd just like to order them exactly as I want to hear them. Say, for the sake of example, that I have 10 songs in a playlist. I decide that I don't want to hear them in order 1-10, but 2,5,4,3,9,1, etc. I used to have v 1.2 of the playlist sandbox script and it allowed me to do this.

You should still be able to do this but this changes the playlist permanently, is that your intent? Even without PS, you can still accomplish this in the playlist node. PS just makes it more convenient to work with playlists.

Nyn, thank you very much for the replies. I appreciate it. Perhaps I'm being a bit dense here, but I don't see a way to actually change the order, song by song, of the tracks in the playlist. The sandbox made it very easy to do. I don't mind doing it another way, though, if I could just figure it out.

Go to the playlist that you want to change. While holding the left mouse button down, drag the song to the new position. Let the mouse button go when you have the song in the location you want. Repeat this for all the tracks you want to move. That's it, you're all done.

Odd. that's exactly what I would think would do it and it's what I've been trying, but the order does not change. What I do is go to the playlist node and, once the songs are listed in the central window, try to reorder them as you suggested. I get a little "+" cursor and an outline in blue of the place I think the song will go, but nothing happens. ANy idea what I might be doing incorrectly?

I am not sure, except for the plus sign I am getting the same results, except my re-ordering is staying as I move them. Are you sure you have the playlist selected in the tree before you start?

EDIT: Another thought just occurred to me, are you making your changes in the Now Playing List??

Yes, I am at the playlist node, with the appropriate playlist selected in the tree and its tracks showing in the central window. The Now Playing window is docked off to the side and contains different tracks from the playlist window. Is that where the changes need to be made? Please forgive my abject ignorance. And thanks very much for your time and patience. It could be that there is something not right with my installation or it could just be my limited understanding (likely). ;)

You're in the right place, doing the right things so it should be working. What version of MM are you using??

You should try to update to the latest official version, it works as it should there. It is also working correctly in the 3.1 beta version which is available in the beta forum.

it sounds like you are rearranging tracks in the Now Playing node, this will not change the playlist order. not sure if its a bug but have noticed the same thing

be sure that you can seethe Now Playing panel by going to View menu and make sue Now Playing is selected, and reorder files in the Now Playing panel, not the central panel

Okay. I think I've got it figured out now. I was in the playlist node, but I didn't realize that I had to load the playlist into the "Now Playing" panel and reorder them there. I was trying to reorder them in the central panel that, of course, also shows the track listings. Once I did that it was a simple matter to just save the reordered list back to the playlist and overwrite the original. Thanks very much folks, for your time and patience. I greatly appreciate it.

What *did* ever happen to that script, by the way?
