I really can't tell you, I don't sync with iTunes so I don't have this problem.

Hi,

I have been having huge huge issues with iTunes and installing it. Basically I cannot. So I want use this application because I heard it support all iPod device (including the brand new nano I got); however, I am trying to sync it and it is not working. I used your guide to install quicktimes and AppleDeviceApplication only and it did not work. Is there something I am doing wrong. Please keep in mind that I can't install iTunes. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey, I have a 5g iPod Nano 16 gb, and all the features work great while syncing with mediamonkey, except for the volume scaling of the songs. Everything is done as shown in the guide, to my knowledge, except all tunes synced to the Nano appear to have a very high volume gain (the max volume on the player is reached when the volume bar is less than half way up). Volume leveling is not turned on, nor have any of the tracks in my library had this problem in iTunes (save a maybe five or ten). Yet all 2000 some of the songs I synced with mediamonkey were WAY too loud.

I have reset, restored, and updated the player multiple times.

Any help is greatly appreciated

The guide is here.

Post any questions here and I can try to answer them. Also feel free to edit the guide if you spot that something's off or if you have something valuable to add.
HI everyone!
I just bought my girlfriend a 5ht gen Ipod nano, I have been using MM for about 6 months now , and i do have the GOLD edition , but even tho I've read through the forum, wiki answers , FAQ , etc, I still cant seem to add songs to her device .... am i alone on this?
so here go a few troubling questions...

1- My version of MM is 3.1.1.1261 , and it seems that for 5th gen ipods i would need version 3.2 or later... Is this correct and if so , how do i update without losing my gold status?

2- not wanting to sync all my library (80GB) to a tiny nano 8GB, i have been trying to sync individual songs+albums , but even tho on MM these songs show up on device , when i unplug the device, none of the music is displyed on the device... further more, on the PC , i have gone to device properties and it appears full...so where is all the music and why is it not showing on the bleeming thing?!????

I've rebuilt my device database on 2 different settings, ( for newly added tacks and for all track changes...) and none of it has worked....
HELP?

is this just a plot by the Apple people to prevent ipod users usig other software for their Ipods???
I am sorry if i am just being thick and if i have missed the obvious, but this is doing my nut in...

any help will be much appreciated and i hope i can continue to use Media Monkey as IT BEATS itunes HANDS DOWN anytime on any level!!!
Thank you very much

To update, just download the installation file from the MM downloads site and install it. All your settings and gold status will be preserved.

Hi,

I have a strange problem with my 80 GB iPod classic.
I can send tracks from MM to iPod without problems, BUT if I edit ratings on iPod while listening to songs then I cannot have the rating properly synced back to MM.

It used to work perfectly, but I installed an autorating plugin and it messed up the ratings, now I uninstalled it but the syncing of ratings is still broken.

I managed to find a temporary solution:
I send to a new MM playlists the songs grouped by rating
I close MM and open MM database with a proper client (for example SqlDBX)
I find the playlist id in the playlists table

I give this command:
update

update Songs SET Rating = 100 WHERE SongTitle COLLATE NOCASE IN
(
SELECT songtitle COLLATE NOCASE FROM Songs WHERE ID IN (
SELECT idsong FROM PlaylistSongs WHERE IDPlaylist = 468
)
)
AND songpath NOT LIKE ':\ipod_%'

the rating = 100 means 5 stars, the query first selects titles of songs in the custom created playlist, then selects the titles of those songs. The last step is selecting all the songs with matching title not in ipod folder and set the rating at the value I need.

It would be much better to have it fully automated as it used to be, do you have any idea about how to fix this?

DISCLAIMER
Wrong usage of SQL can easily damage your mediaMonkey database. MAKE A BACKUP before sending commands, these instructions are for advanced users only.

I love MM and use it all the time... however I'm having a problem syncing my ipod 3rd gen. For some reason every time I try to sync it says that there is insufficient room on the device.. then when i look at the settings to see what is being synced (regardless of the numerous times i've unchecked things!) it has the entire My Music folder checked and all its subfolders.

Each time, I go back and check only the boxes of contents that I want but it never seems to remember my settings so i'm deferring the problem to those more knowledgeable bout this sort of thing :)
OS: Vista
MM: 3.2.0.1294

Thanks~!

I followed the guide using an Iphone 3GS 32 with newest operating system. The sync of a selected mp3 file makes the screen blink on the Iphone but nothing turns up in the Ipod application. How to troubleshoot?
UPDATE: When I now tried to open Itunes, it said it could not communicate with the Iphone and offered me a full restore which I'd rather not do ... what happened?
UPDATE2: Reason for no sync is that I used auto-sync without having specified what to sync :-) Chrash of Itunes unrelated to this.

Hello,

I followed your step-by-step instructions to sync my 160GB iPod Classic with MM - everything went fine. The first time I synced my iPod with MM, all went well. However, since then, even though I have had the "Delete Tracks that aren't on the Auto-Sync List from the device", MM does NOT give me an option of deleting these tracks once I start the syncronization. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot,

Logan

Are you using auto-sync? Did you exclude any folders?
