Re: Syncing Vision:M

sccrzeus wrote:I reformatted my Vision:M and now when I try and sync with MM it says that it is preparing a list of tracks and then quits the sync process. There are no errors displayed. It just ends.

This did not occur with Alpha 3.
This happens to me also. With a Sansa e280 in MTP or MSC it doesnt matter. I also tried it with a usb flash drive (OCZ 2GB Mini Kart) and the same thing happens.

I just sent this off to support but if any of you guys wanna take a look at the logs i'll put it all here to.

I am experiencing a sync bug with my Sansa e280 – I’ll try and keep concise and too the point as I am sure you get plenty of these to wade through.

Environment: AMD Athlon 2500XP (clocked to 3200XP) – 1GB Cruicial DDR400 Ram – 1CDRW – 1 DVDRW – CMI8738 based soundcard SPDIF out – Vista Business N 32bit (media restore pack installed)(fairly clean install) – MediaMonkey 3.0.0.1034 (gold version – lifetime license) WMP11 Skin

BUG: Sansa e280 Sync Bug. Present in MTP mode and MSC mode. When sync button is clicked MM3 will initiate sync procedure, calculate files to be synced, go to copy the first one then the status bar will just disappear. Nothing is copied and it only ever attempts the first file. Please note this occurs independently of whether file conversion takes place or not.

Logs Attached are for SANSA E280 MTP DEVICE MODE but problem is present in MSC mode also.

As a control, I just tried syncing to an OCZ 2GB Mini Kart (USB Flash drive). The same thing occurs.

That happens if you have enabled the syncing of album arts. Disable that and MM will sync correctly. Hopefully this will be fixed in next release.

When pointing to a cover in the Album Art view, a pop up window with a list of tracks comes up. But these are always numbered from #1, not showing track number for incomplete albums.

And the order of tracks in the Album Art +Tracks view are not always sorted after track#. (Depending on the original order in the database?)

If you got to the year node, got to say "2000's," when you have that node highlighted, if you hit RIGHT on your keyboard and it will open the node up to show the sub years, don't know why the "+" signs aren't shown properly. Strange...
You're right. Cursor right opens the sub-folders. I tried the plus on the number pad, it worked also. Thanks.

In Track Properties, Genre. If you start typing.... the Autofill will follow along, but now seems to be case sensitive. Even though the genre already exists, it will allow you to enter lowercase also and puts in a version with the first letter lowercase.

BUG:
It is impossible to edit items in the navigation tree while files are being tagged - as soon as you open the edit box it closes again as MM saves the tags.

This will obviously only happen if you are tagging a LOT of new files at once.

Strange ineffectivity:
A song (not in the db) that starts playing, will briefly add its folder structure to the "Location" node.

How to reproduce:
- Choose a song on your hard drive that isn't in the MM library (and the song's folder (any songs in the same folder) isn't in the library either)
- Add the song to the "Now Playing" list (e.g. by drag&drop)
- Browse to the Location node, to the folder that is the closest available (grand)parent of the song's folder. (e.g. C:\Music if the song's folder is C:\Music\From\Maestro and the From folder isn't in the library)
- Start playing the song
- Notice the added folder in the Location node. This folder was only added temporarily, because refreshing the node (by reopening it) doesn't show the added folder anymore.

While you're reading this, I have a question: Is the debugging functionality in MM3 Alpha already completely enough to report bugs? E.g. if I send a debug report (with comments) through MM, is it already fully usable for the developers or is an extra email (e.g. with extra debug logs like hpCDE.log, MMWMDMExcept.log, ... if applicable) handy?

When installing a new MM version to another location, the Extensions manager (of the new version) thinks that there are already extra extensions installed (refering to the C:\Documents and Settings\Ruben\Application Data\MediaMonkey\Extensions.ini file), while this is for the previously used version. The new version in reality is still clean (has no extensions installed).

This behaviour makes running two MM3 versions side by side quite troublesome.
By the way, the Extensions.ini file and Extensions folder are not in the Local Settings folder as the rest of DB, INI and M3U files. In my opinion, extensions should be in MediaMonkey's program folder instead, to avoid all kinds of problems.

Please add an option, not to start at the last used Tree Node. I don't care where I was last session

Thanks

Auto analyze volume enable I get decoder.exe crash takes MM3 down. I had to stop it then go in to options and disable it.

Once I did MM3 Alpha 4 went back working normally.

auto add to library

Post by ui »

This was a bug in 2.5 (never solved) and now it is again in this version.

Problem: when I copy music onto my computer on the - for example - D-drive (that is enabled in file monitor) and then move the files to my main music collection (also monitored) through mediamonkey, then those files aren't added to the library automatically. I have to restart MM or do a manual scan to add those files.

When is the file-monitor become a real-time tool? If it's not going to be that, don't call it file monitor, 'cause it does not what it should do.

PS: This may have been reported already, but I'm short in time, so I just thought to add the problem. Hope you guys can work it out.[/u]

I had this with a large collection (17000 tracks), it kept crashing after a period of time. I simply restarted MM again and it carried on without a fuss till the next crash in a whiles time.

Suggestion: the password isn't represented by ******, like it should. That is a security risk that should be solved, I think....

I don't know if this has been going on since mm 3 started.
but i just found this bug.

so.

Bug: playing any skin on mm 3 using float player, don't have it always on top uncheck that.

now have IE open and then press the show desktop icon on the quicklauch bar. all goes away and shows the desktop.

now click on the markers on the task bar to restore the IE, and then Restore mm 3.

you should have the error now. which is both the floatplayer
and the main player with list view theme showing.
the float player will be ontop.

you can't click on restore on the float player. so click on the button on the main player theme, to open the float player
it don't take the theme and main player away, so send the main player to the task bar mini player, now you should have

the float player on top of the main player and theme, and the mini player in the task bar.
both the float player and the main player and theme should be totaly mucked up and un usable because of the bad pixeling,
and smearing of the players gui.
but the task bar mini player works.
the only way to get rid of this mess is to use the tray icon
and click on exit.
