just installed v2.5 and all i get is the unable to select album error...

these are the settings copied directly from the vbs file:

MinTracks = 0 ' minimum tracks per album
AvgRating = -1 ' minimum average rating (stars) per album
MinRating = -1 ' minimum rating (stars) per song
Capacity = 10 ' number of albums to remember
Attempts = 100 ' number of queries to attempt
TheGenre = "" ' comma separated list, blank means any genre
Mode3f1 = 0 ' 3-from-1 mode
MaxTracks = 100 ' maximum tracks per album
Unplayed = False ' only select unplayed albums
Earliest = "" ' earliest date in format "YYYYMMDD"

and i'm on 2.5.5.980 of MM

These are the default settings in the VBS file. Can you please upload your actual settings which are stored in the MediaMonkey.ini file in the [AutoAlbumDJ] section?
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.

this is the entire contents of mediamonkey.ini:

[out_ds]
cfg_total_time=223638752

literally, that is everything! should there be more?!

is it worth mentioning that all my mp's are on a network drive? i assumed that it wouldn't cause a problem as the actual 'library' files are on this machine.

thanks for your time

How many albums do you have in your library? Try going into Tools,Options,AutoAlbumDJ and setting the Attempts to 500. Does that help?

500 and 999 give the same errors too...

really struggling to see why it doesn't work - do you think it could be with having the tracks on a network drive?

Can you please try clicking "File, Maintain Library..." and selecting all the options - does this help? If not, how many albums do you have in your library?

I think I'm going to have to create a debug mode so we can see what's going on - watch this space! :)

New version (2.6) is now available from my website. There is now a debug mode which creates a logfile in the Auto folder. If you are having problems feel free to email me this logfile.

Trix could you please post an explanation like there is one for Duplicate Report?

I'm not sure what avg. rating and min.rating eman. Are theses only for the songs in the album? meaning they have to be over album average? Or is it counted for the whole album? Does unknown mean that it can choose anything?

What exactly does capacity do?

Thx

This script randomly selects an album from your database. It then checks against a number of criteria and if it fails it selects another. It tries this Attempts number of times (or until it finds one that passes of course!).

Firstly it checks to see if this album has been selected recently. Each time an album passes it is added to the memory, but the memory only holds Capacity number of albums, to allow albums to be selected again after a while. If the album is in the memory then it fails.

Then the tracks whose genre is listed in TheGenre and whose rating is at least MinRating are counted. If this count is larger than MaxTracks or smaller than MinTracks then the album fails.

Then the average rating of all the tracks on the album is calculated and if it is less than AvgRating then the album fails.

Then if UnPlayed is ticked and any of the tracks on the album has already been played then the album fails.

Then if Earliest contains a date and any of the tracks on the album were added before this date then the album fails.

If the album hasn't yet failed then it's selected and added to the memory. If Mode3f1 is ticked then three of the tracks are randomly selected from the album and added to the now playing list, otherwise they are all added in track order.

Hope this clears it all up! :)

hi trixmoto

firstly thanks so much for taking to time to help me out but it turns out it was user error...

i don't bother with any ratings for my albums and so kept the default 'average rating' in the script as '0'. how can i have an average of 0 when none of my albums have any rating at all? (i.e. they are NULL as opposed to 0)

changing the average rating to 'unknown' along with minimum rating to 'unknown' now makes it work :D

cheers
