Sync files between MMW and MMA do not show in MMW

I have a weird behavior with my synced files between MMW and MMA. After the first sync, song that are sync do not show as sync in the sync list.

I'll try to be as clear as possible about the issue.

When I want to sync new files, I go in MMW - Devices & services - My phone ID. Than in the Sync list, I check all the albums I want on my phone, apply and then sync on my phone. This works well, my phone download the new files and sync the play count back after new listening.

The problem is when I want to remove the album from my sync list, none of the music I have synced on my phone is check in the list anymore. So I can "unckecked" any album and change my music.

If I delete the music manually on my phone, as soon as I resync my music, it's downloaded again. So it looks more like a display issue, as the software do know what songs are on my phone, but don't show it to me and allow me to change them.

This use to work before, but I don't know when it stop working and for what reason.

Anybody experienced this problem before?

MMW version: 2024.1.1.3113
MMA version: 2.0.5.1248
Windows 11.

Well, I can't really tell, the issue is between MMW and MMA, but visible in MMW. I decided to post in the MMA forum because it's related to MMA. But I have no idea the issue is on which side.

So, in MMW the selection isn't showing? Are you sure you're viewing the correct device profile?

Can you please retry with the latest MediaMonkey 2024 beta?

Yes, exactly, the selection of all my files is not showing in MMW. And I'm sure I'm looking at the right device, because if I add files, apply, and sync, they will sync to my device.

I tried the MM 2024 beta (the release version, so I'm now at 2024.2.0.3163) and it didn't fix the problem.

BTW, I use wifi sync. However, I've also try connecting my phone with usb and I get the same behavior.

Also, it may worth noting that the check box for the "Artist" menu is partially checked (the dash inside the box), as it should be. It's the check box for the artist and the album that are not checked which they should.

So I worked more on my problem.

I've tried to go back one version (go to version 2024.0.0.3082) and it didn't help.
I've also tried to erase the folder "C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey5" and it didn't help either.

I've noticed that sometime, even if the artist was unchecked in MMW, unfolding the artist showed the selected album, but not all the time. I've try to find a pattern as why sometime the album was selected and other time it wasn't but I couldn't. My best guess was that problematic albums were added at the same time, maybe using a different version of MMW.

Then I realized that if I select an album I have on my phone (but don't appear selected in MMW), click "apply" then unselect it and click apply again, at the next sync the music for this album will be erased. That allowed me to remove multiple albums on my phone which after lead to most music (but not all) now showing selected in MMW. This is weird but it now seems my problem is mostly solved, and was fixed by removing music on my sync list.

I don't have a good explanation for this. Only two things come to mind.

1) maybe some of the music I uploaded corrupted the sync list causing the problem. Maybe because of a weird character. an encoding problem or another reason.

2) maybe my sync list was too large and cause some kind of problem. I would be surprized if it was the case however, because I didn't have that much music (maybe a 1000 songs) and also because I since then added new music and selected music seems to show properly.

So there was clearly some kind of weird bug, but I can't pin point the problem and reproduce it. Now it's working and hopefully it will stay that way. Thanks.
