New Laptop - MM won't locate files

Post by Saint_ade »

I've been running MM 2024.1.0.3113 standard version on Windows 10 for ages and no problems, with all my music located on a HDD drive.
I've just upgraded to a new Windows 11 laptop and installed the same version of MM.
When I come to add files to the library I've connected the HDD to the laptop and found the folder, but MM will not accept the location. When I click 'Add' it just does nothing. I've gone into the drive folder properties and set permissions to allow any access, and I've unchecked the box 'Infer properties' in the Library node (I saw that tip on here) but still it will not load any files.
I've tried dragging the files across and that doesn't work either.
This is doing my head in - I thought it would be a simple task to just load up my library.
Can someone tell me in simple terms what I'm doing wrong please? It shouldn't be this complicated surely?
Thanks! Ade

By the way - I found an article and copied the database file to the new laptop. I then tried to reassign the drive, but the help file isn't much good. It says to right click on 'Location' and go to Media Properties, but that isn't one of the options to pick! Now I'm even more frustrated!

Problem solved. The issue was between the chair and the laptop (me!). After I'd selected the folder I was clicking 'Add' and nothing happened. The OK button is off the bottom of the screen and that's all it was. Slightly embarrassed, but why put the OK button out of sight?
