Hi - Couldn't find an answer in the forum.
I have a good size music collection hosted on an old NAS. I just got a new NAS and have replicated the collection on the new NAS.
Is there a way to edit or redirect the MM5.DB to the new NAS location without rescanning the new location to start a new database? e.g. Old location shown as NETWORK>OLDNAS>MUSIC. Is there an easy way to simply change to NETWORK>NEWNAS>MUSIC?
MUSIC folders are identical but for location.
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to this with network locations. If you're comfortable with SQL you may attempt it that way.

So Lowlander - are you saying there is no way to transfer the existing database to the new location and to get MM to recognize it?
Are you saying that any user moving to a new NAS by would thus lose all auto-playlists and all other non-scannable data such as playcounts etc??
To the OP - This person in the beta testing sub-forum found a way to get MM5 to recognize his existing nas location database while migrating from MM4.
Maybe you can find a clue in there???

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to answer.
Not an ace with SQL, Lowlander, so probably not worth going down that road--be fun to learn it, but would likely not save me a ton of time versus simply rescanning to create a new DB.
I had seen that post, Rob. Good suggestion, but I don't believe it really addresses my issue.
Really appreciate both of your help. Looks like the simplest solution is to rename MM5DB to OLDMMDB and rescan the new location for a new MMDB. I will take some time, but that is my own fault for not pruning my collection.

Instead you can use Locate Moved/Missing Files, just verify the matches.

This is what I have done in the past when moving to new drives. I don't recall how long it took to repopulate everything, but know it was straightforward and problem free, for me.
