Unable to scan WMA's

Post by stantt52 »

I have most current version Media Monkey2024 ,Gold license. I have been using Media Monkey for over 18 years.
I have 4784 WMA files in my Music directory on an external drive. When I scan, these files are not found. The approx. 30,000 mp3's ,no problem However I can explicitly open one of the files and MM will play it; and of course Windows Media Player will play it. Furthermore in Tools/Options/Library , WMA is listed as a supported audio format.
When Media Monkey plays it ,there is no info shown, no title artist ,length ,metadata. I can also scan WAV files

I have had these same files scan into my library previously ,on several laptops (3) . NEVER had a problem before.

I'm pretty sure the problem is Media Monkey NOT the files. I converted a mp3 file to wma and Media Monkey will not scan it .

Any advice ?? I don't want to do a new install of Media Monkey and I don't want to try and find almost 5000 wma files to convert to Mp3

unable to scan WMA's

Post by stant52 »

I have Media Monkey 2024 newest version , Gold, I have used MM for over 18 years .
I have 4784 WMA files in my Music directory on an external hard drive along with almost 30,000 MP3's and a few WAV files. When I scan, these WMA files are not scan into library , MM reports error in file.

However I can explicitly open one of the files and MM will play it; and of course Windows Media Player will play it. Furthermore in Tools/Options/Library WMA is listed as a supported audio format.

MM when playing the WMA will not show any metadata, no artist, title ,length. MM does scan the WAV files and MP3 files just no WMA files. These files ,this external drive ,all these files have previously been scanned into MM with no problem. On probably 3 different laptops. BUT not now !
Almost 5000 WMA files can not suddenly be corrupt .
I do not want to do a re-install of MM 2024 and I don't want to try and fine almost 5000 WMA files to convert to MP3's

What's the problem ????? HELP

Please provide a sample WMA file that won't scan to Support for analysis.
