Scan skipped files as "filtered or disabled in Library settings"

Post by bubbas45 »

Howdy, folks.
I haven't used MM in nearly 10 years. I just upgraded to 2024 Gold Life. I remember nothing from my previous experience with MM. I am reading the online help and the forums as I learn the software. I did not find anything related to my question today.

My FLAC music files reside on a QNAP NAS. I did a first scan and left the Add/Scan settings at default and set the Location to the network path to the NAS and folder.
The results state "Skipped 10 files (filtered or disabled in Library settings)"

I have no idea why these 10 files are different than all the other files. They show up in the Library and do play just fine, so there isn't really a problem, but I'd like to understand why they were skipped. I don't understand the meaning of "skipped" in this context.

Any ideas?
thanks, bws

So the files are already in the MediaMonkey Library, and also are not under 20kb and do have the FLAC extension?

I thought that was true, but just realized several of the files are under 20 kb. So that would explain 4 of the 10.

You can disable the option of less than kb files and scan again. If you still have skipper files check the extension in the log.

Thanks for your help. I think I'll just have to live with the mystery.
I rescanned to ignore files below 10 kB, which added (to my great surprise) over 1000 files; no change to skipped files.
Rescanned with ignore file size disabled. Same 10 files skipped, no files added.
The extension is .flac for each skipped file (as it is for all files in the scanned folder), MM setting is for FLAC.

thanks again, bws

Please attach a sample file that's skipped to a Support Ticket for analysis.

I tried attaching to a new ticket one of the .flac tracks that was skipped, but ticket function says file type is not allowed.
Are you asking for some other file?

In that case ZIP the file. It also may be too big in which case you may need to upload to a Cloud Service like OneDrive and include a link to the shared file in your Support Ticket.

Got the file and replied in Ticket.

Just in case someone else runs into this, it was indeed user error. I discovered I had a duplicate album in my FLAC source folder that was not under the artist name. All the tracks in this folder were .mp3, which I had excluded from my scan. I could not see the skipped tracks were .mp3 files in the scan log because the path name was so long it was truncated and did not show the extension.

Many thanks to MM support for looking into the situation.

Hi,
I am glad it ended like this ;) , but even if it was MMW issue it would be fixed.

Better luck next time ;)

Happy Monkeying!
