ibm trackpoint - scrolling not working

Post by kuck »

Hi,

I have an IBM X32 and this only comes with a trackpoint (the nippel in the middle of the keyboard) which I really love and 3 buttons below the keyboard.
Using the trackpoint and the middle button usually let me scroll in other applications like firefox etc.

However, Mediamonkey does not seem to work with that. Did anyone else have a problem with that and could fix it?

The search did not come up with anything. If there is already an existing topic, please refer me to it.

Thanks.

Kuck

PS: using version 2.5.3.968

non-skinned version

Hi,

I am surprised that nobody else has this problem. Google did not bring up and solution either.

For your information, I have just found out that the trackpoint works if I start mediamonkey with the MediaMonkey (non-skinned).exe file.

However, any of the default skins do not work with if I use the MediaMonkey.exe file to start the application.

Anyhow, maybe some lost soul will find this hint when running into the same problem. :D

If understand correctly, you'll have to TAB to the section you want to scroll by.
Select the artist node, then select a track there, then the scroller should work.
The only other scrolable pane is the now playing, you could try tabbing to that to see if it works.

I had a smiliar problem with my keyboard, theres a scroll wheel on the keyboard, and if im more near my mouse then i have to tab to the node i want to scrool by before i can actually sroll.

I didn't see this before :D. I have a Dell laptop with a touchpad. The touchpad has scroll regions on the right side and bottom. In most applications these operate the scrollbars for the window under the mouse cursor (or the active window if you change the setting).

In MediaMonkey I can't get the scroll regions to scroll the track list or the tree. Since I know that the scroll wheel on my mouse works (on the desktop computer) I never gave it much thought and just figured it was something that's different between touchpad and scrollwheel operation.

Most of the time I'm just listening anyway. :D

There was a scroll issue fixed in the current beta's. You could check out the beta's in the beta forum to see if it addresses your issue.

PS. I can confirm this with 2.5.3. My Acer Ferrari 3200 scroll buttons don't work either in the different windows in MediaMonkey.

I'm up to date on the beta's and don't see any changes.

And just to avoid confusion, with the "I didn't see this before" I meant that I didn't see this thread before. The problem has always been the same. I got the laptop about 9 months ago, so no idea about versions before that.

Thanks for the feedback

Hi together,

Glad to hear that I am not the only one with that problem. Hopefully this thread will be read by the developers for fixing the problem in the future.

Tabbing I tried as well, but not working for me.

A good work around is the non-skinned exe file. Just not looking so pretty anymore, but something I can live with.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Best regards,

I see it got moved to the bug reports forum. That's a better place for it I think.

Trackpoint / Scrollpad problems

Post by rusty »

Perhaps this can be solved by:

Please let me know if this makes a difference.

Since it's not a scroll wheel, but a touchpad, there is no setting like that. I've tried changing other settings with no effect.

The scroll wheel mouse at the desktop at home works fine.

Trackpoint & touchpad scrolling issues

Post by rusty »

Strange. I'm using it just fine with my touchpad. It must be specific to certain hardware/drivers.

For the dell laptop: do you know what driver it's using?

My Acer Ferrari 3200 has a Synaptics touchpad with scroll button. Driver version 7.5.4.0.

Just to make sure there's no confusion. My touchpad works fine for regular mouse actions like clicking (tapping), tap-and-drag, etc. with MediaMonkey.

It's only the scroll areas (right side of touchpad and bottom of touchpad) that don't work with MediaMonkey, in other applications those work like the scroll-wheel.

Just downloaded the same version. The touchpad scrolling region still does nothing in MM.

It's really not a big issue for me. The only reason I mentioned it originally was just to in case it was the same problem as the trackpoint. (it obviously isn't :D)
