music library sync issue *posted in sync forum but no re:*

Post by Ooddiittyy »

So maybe I'm missing something here, but here's my issue: every time I re-sync my library with the iRiver, it has to re-copy EVERY DAMNED SONG in my library, even though I haven't changed them.

I re-sync every once in a while because I've added, say, 100 new songs to the MM library, but have changed nothing else in the filestructure. However, when MM syncs, it re-copies everything! Why?

Is this something to do with not having the Gold version? I recall that it used to work differently (I had Gold for a while, but no longer), so maybe it's related to that?

If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Yeah, as far as I can tell none of that stuff changes between synchronizations. Any other ideas?

Are you sure the files weren't modified? Check out their last modified date (e.g. using Windows Explorer)...

If it doesn't help, try to give us as much information as possible, e.g. the exact type of your player, or a debug log.

Well, just tried it today again and it worked. (Only copied 270 new songs instead of >3000.) I'll look into it and see if I can figure out why; repost if there's something that I think others in my situation would have missed.

Make sure that no other application modifies the time-stamps of the files.
