Virtual CD disk directory doesn't get cleaned

Post by ariel »

I installed the latest release (2.5.4 RC2 LG) and decided to check the MM directories. In the Virtual CD directory (in the Documernts and Settings dir tree) I found many empty subdirectories, artist\album named subdirectories, and some with tracks. The tracks were the last bunch of MP3's I loaded to the virtual CD - an MP3 data CD. So I have some 650MB of deadweight files. The Virtual CD node in MM is empty (as it should after I deleted the VCD tracks from within MM). My last usage of the Virtual CD was in a previous version, but I'm not sure which. I don't recall any crash at the time I was using the VCD, but in any case I use "Maintain Library" regularly and I'd expect it to clean up.

I think that is correct. I believe that MediaMonkey doesn't delete directories when deleting tracks from VCD. When deleting tracks it should also clean up empty directories (those from which tracks are delete not others).

Ariel,

The 'Clear Library for missing vcd tracks' in the 'Maintain Library' section does the opposite of what you want. i.e. it deletes DB entries in cases when physical tracks no longer exist on the HD.

My guess is that the VCD entries that you observed on your HD are remnants of a previous MediaMonkey database. Could that be possible?

Reading the title of the option carefully it sunk in :) But it would be a good idea to add the functionality to any directory that is 100% maintained by MM like the VCD dir.

No. I backup the db before upgrading versions but I never had to restore or reinitialize the db. It's the same db from the first install of MM over a year ago.
