Monkey Rok 4.1 - Updated 17/08/2009

Post by trixmoto »

This thread is about "Monkey Rok" versions 1.0 to 4.1 - for the current version please visit this thread... http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=48142

Here it is, the long awaited rewrite of MonkeyRok! :D

This script was originally created by oldskool73 and the original thread can be found here. I have released my version in a separate thread to avoid confusion about feature requests and bugs reported.

You can download the installer from my website.

I recommend that you completely remove any MonkeyRok alpha versions before using this installer. I have kept skin changes to a minimum but there are some important differences so you will need to remake any modifications using the new ones as a base.

The changes I have made include...
- Fixed errors if temporary directory does not exist
- Fixed SQL errors if max tracks or albums is zero
- Fixed rating stars don't display correctly
- Fixed error if no track in the player
- Added option to control startup mode of panel
- Added option to create a debug logfile
- Fixed skin not switching immediately
- Added option to exclude various artists
- Added option to block tracks being added to now playing list
- Added option to only show rated favourite tracks
- Added option to only show played most-played tracks
- Added option to switch between now playing and selected track
- Added status of containers now saved between sessions
- Added offline image is used if tags not available
- Added folder image is used as a last resort
- Added album art panel to see full size image
- Added player controls to track details

Please provide feedback, good or bad! :)

Thanks Trix. This is very much appreciated. I loved this script, but the little niggles were enough to force me to stop using it. I'm looking forward to putting this version through it's paces. :)

Well I could put in an error trap around that so that you didn't get the error, but I don't understand how you're getting it. It's complaining that it can't find one of the bits in the "skin.html" file. Which skin are you using? Have you modified any of the files since installing them?

Click on the big image of the album and you'll get a window with the full sized image in it.

I'm getting the same error as kazadharri.

I had the Alpha installed, but it was removed before I installed this version.
I'm using the "animated" skin file, but it happens with the others as well.

Also, kazadharri and I, have a similar log file.

Cheers for the update though :)

Thanks for the reply re the album art panel. By the way, MonkeyRok is one of my favorite scripts, and I really appreciate that you've taken the time to both fix the bugs and add functionality. Some thoughts for future adds...

(1) More detailed song info (for whatever is playing or selected) - probably located in the top level. Items like Genre, Year, Custom Fields, Bitrate, etc... (sort of like Detailed Song Info Panel)

(2) A Lyrics Panel

(3) Bigger Album Art in the top panel

Great job!!

Excellent progress Trixmoto

I renamed both the MonkeyRok folder and .vbs file just in case this turned to custard as I had the alpha version running in a stable and reliable way and wanted to be able to go back if your v1.0 caused me any problems.
But, no a clean install and running with no issues at all!

I am not sure why the need for control buttons in the now playing? but overall I look forward to seeing you develop this script way beyond where we are now.

Thanks

Looks good.

The only problem I have is that when it starts up I get a pop-up saying that "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Do you want to allow this interaction?"

This is when using IE7 with the default settings. I've tried playing around with the browser settings but can't seem to stop it happening.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

If you have tweaked the MyComputer part of your internet security setup to allow activeX then this fix has been successful for some.

There is more info on ActiveX issues in the MonkeyRok Alpha thread.

QUOTE:

"ActiveX warnings: If you have switched "Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" in your Local Intranet settings in Internet Explorer, and you are still getting the warning messages - try this:

1) Run regedit.exe
2) Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0
3) Modify key 1201 = 0

This sets your "My Computer" zone setting (which is not displayed in the Internet Options) to Enabled.
