Vista problems
If you're having problems on Vista with MM 2.5.x, please post more details. I've tested this on a couple of systems, and found that it works well, provided that I've deleted the in_cda.dll plugin from Program Files/MediaMonkey/Plugins.

in_cda.dll is an input plugin used to read the tracks from an audio cd (which are represented by cda files).
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).
Well, I installed it, removed that file and it doesn't work.
start mediaMonkey, click a song to play and it seems fine. when the song is over it crashes before the next song can play. It also crashes if I click next song button.

I must be a lucky SOB!
I didn't hear that MM wouldn't work with Vista. I guess it was my dumb luck...but I installed MM on top of Vista Ultimate...viola! It works like a champ, without having to delete any files or anything.

I found that if i launch media monkey by clicking on an mp3 instead of using the mediaMonkey shortcut, then it doesn't lock up. Once launched from an mp3, i can play all the music i want through mediaMonkey. If i start MM the normal way with the shortcut then it crashes when it tries to play a 2nd song every time.

Happens exactly the same to me. Will look forward to the new MM version 3Kurt4949 wrote:Well, I installed it, removed that file and it doesn't work.

Yes, i have the same problem.
MM worked fine for 2 months on vista ult. However on using it today, it crashes after the first song.
Even if the MMis opened from a mp3, i am getting crashes most of the time when the song changes to the next. (Although some songs this does not happen on, so i suspect it may have to be something about the encoding or extension of the music file.
It is curious though the it only started happening all of a sudden. (I have played 1000's of hours of music so far on MM before this started to happen.

Did you install new software or Windows updates? Have you tried reinstalling MediaMonkey?

OK i have delved a bit deeper into the problem.
I have tracks from many different languages and filenames and folder names . (Chines, Japanese, Korean, Thai, European languages, etc)
A part of my problem was in Control Panel > The Regional and Language settings > Change language for non unicode programs.
This had changed back to English. I have sinced changed it back to China (PRC), (as i use alot of Chinese applications).
With this setting i now do not have this problem with Japanese and Chinese songs, however the same problem above still occurs for tracks with Korean tracks and some other different language codes..
So fixing the above i fixed the problem for 90% of my library. Any other suggestions.
To answer the previous questions, tried uninstalling/installing, using 2.5.5, no new program updates or installed.
