New MiniLyrics --- AVOID

Post by Teknojnky »

So apparently they have updated minilyrics, however they have now made it NAG WARE which pops up the stupid dialog every time you start your music player (unless of course you pay for registration).

It is also taking an extremely long time to startup MM now, like 3-5 minutes, even after you close the stupid dialog.

Between the nag dialog and the now extremely slow start up, I highly recommend you do NOT upgrade to the new version.

If you do decide to try it, make sure you have a backup installation file of the older version in case you need to re-install it.

the slow down might be spyware in the new minilyrics program doing its stuff first?

if that is the case then there is no need for using the newer version at all. :o

They released another new version today, actually at my request. When they released 5.0, I wasn't able to log in to upload lyrics anymore. I worked with a developer to determine what the problem was and they fixed it by releasing the new 5.1 version. I'm not sure which of the releases you are warning us about, but I did notice the annoying popup with the 5.0 release. Either way, I can assure there is no spyware or adware installed with these new releases, although there may be an increase in the pestering messages about buying the program.

Anywho, since I helped the developer (and also because he found out I've uploaded about 150 .lrc files) he sent me a free registration code - so I'm not sure if the annoying messages still occur in 5.1.

ok okay so the slowdown is just more then likely over use of the cpu cycles?

umm? 150 lyrics?

i wonder what they would do if i sent in my 2000 lyics of correct lyics as i got them from the song by way of playing the song. so they are what was released and not like most free lyic sites that have messed up ones.

Ah, yes, but are those 2000 lyrics all synchronized karaoke style? It takes quite a long time to synchronize the lyrics to the song and considering how extensive their database already is I'd say 150 is a lot, because I've found that for most of the music I have, someone else has already uploaded the correct synchronized file for all to download.

As far as the slowdown... I couldn't say. I'm not experiencing any kind of delay, it seems to be loading in the same time as before the new update.

umm?? No! i do not do them that way anymore i stopped using the karaoke programs and features like that.
i now use karafun only. so the only ones that are set to times are done
to the orginal preformance of the song and made with the karafun editor.

but i don't even do that much anymore got tired of hearing my off tone voice

Teknojnky, have you tried Minilyrics 5.0.2710 ? (I haven't but was just wondering. I still use 4.6.2280.)
If someone needs the older versions, I have 4.6.2280 and 5.0.271 (maybe I'd submit them to OldVersion).

A link to the latest good version would be helpful.
