MP3 ok WinAmp but is *silent* in MediaMonkey? (mp3 attached)

Test out this MP3 (<700kb):

It plays in winamp 5.08e but is 100% silent in Mediamonkey 2.5.5.998!? Is this the case for you too? I can't even convert it to WAV using MM.

Attn MP3 gurus : Any idea how to fix this?

Have you checked with other MP3 plugins (In_MAD, in_mpg123)?

hi peke ... no i hadn't tried it with other MP3 plugins

i dloaded In_MAD and tried it - same prob

i couldn't find in_mpg123

also, i tried to decode the mp3 into a WAV using other programs like dbpoweramp, cooledit, etc - all of them fail and just make a silent file - but it plays in wanamp - ONLY .... really wierd?!?!

i think i'm just going to decode to wav using disk write in winamp and then recode with lame at 320kps but i'm just confused why an mp3 would only play in winamp.,... maybe it's not mp3 data??

ok i sent that file. peke, so i know it's not just me, did you have the same result? winamp = plays, mediamonkey = silence?

found in_mpg123 from the above link (thx russell) - fixed the problem.

so winamp must come with it's own plugin that reads this file... anyhow, time to ditch winamp now that all my mp3s play in MM.
