Delete track in 3.0 B3 - how? [F-3709]

Post by Kos »

I feel stupid. When running 3.0 B3 and marking a track I am not able to delete it (I can play them!)... hitting the del button or trying "remove" - nothing happens. Erhhh... In 2.5 it's straight forward - I must be missing something...

Delete in B3

Post by rusty »

Kos,

Can you describe _exactly_ what delete operation doesn't work? I tried deleting from various nodes and Now Playing without a problem.

note: there was a problem in B2 (tracks weren't deleted from the HD), but it was resolved for B3

Well, I mark the track with on click. Then I click "delete" on the keyboard OR choose "remove" in the curtain - and nothing happens.

Deleting files no problem here (except for the fact that I had to restore the deleted files from the waste basket :).

Maybe 3.0 B3 has a problem with deleting tracks on a NAS (where I store my music)? I'll try again tonight!

Deleting problem

Post by rusty »

Kos,

Also, please check whether the delete problem is specific to:
- any particular node
- tracks that are/aren't playing
- tracks that are tagged read-only

Thx.

Well, I have re-installed the MM 2.5 and now I am able to delete songs on my NAS again through MM. It remains impossible in 3.0 B3 (XP and Vista).

Is there a "read-only" button in the 3.0 B3 version?

Kos,

There's no 'read-only' button in MM 3.

Can you tell me whether the problem occurs on:
- all nodes
- tracks that are/aren't playing
- tracks that are tagged read-only (you can tell by going to Windows explorer and looking at the track properties).

Thx.

I'm having this same issue with B3. None of the tracks are read-only or hidden, none are playing, and it occurs on any track I try to remove/delete.

Delete fails

Post by rusty »

Kos, Fishfuzz,

If you have a moment, please generate a debug log of this. Hopefully it'll give us some insight into why this is happening.

note: When you send me the log, please indicate which track you tried to delete and at what line number in the log you pressed the delete key.

Thx.

I have been having a similar problem with MM3B3.
In the Now Playing section quite often when I hit Del on the keyboard it is rather unpridictable what happens. Sometimes it just deletes from the playlist - as it should and always has done in MM2.
Sometimes nothing happens and I have to use the right mouse click, click on delete, to delete the file from Now Playing list
Sometimes when I hit Del it askes if I want to delete the file, when I click 'Yes' it removes it from the Now Playing list and the library.
The delete operation of the Now Playing list is quite random in operation.
No such problems deleting files from the main library listing - I hit Del, it always brings up the confirmation box, I click yes and it deletes the file from the library listing and the computer even though all of my music files have a ra.. attribute (as has always happened in MM2)
Can't recall having this type of problem with MM3b2 but maybe it's more pronounced in MM3b3
Hope this helps

Same problem here. There is no way of deleting anything. My DB is on a NAS, too.

I don't know what can be wrong, so I added a couple of debug messages. Anyone having this problem please send us a debug log (when the next release is available) and as many details as possible - mainly whether you have a clean installation and whether some hotkeys are configured.

Will do. Last night I returned to 2.5 where the deleting process is flawless.
