Volume Leveling: Album Gain doesn't calculate [3747]

Post by gab »

Using MMB3. I leveled all my tracks (and albums) using MM3B2. After installing MMB3, the album levels replaced the track levels and the album levels were blank. I leveled all the tracks again using MM3B3. This seemed to work except that some of the tracks are not showing any values in the tracks list or in the Properties dialog box. If I try leveling these tracks again, MM just skips them (as if they had already been leveled - which they have but with no values showing). Primarily happening with MP3 tracks.

Volume Leveling Is Not Working (Blanks For DB Values)

Post by roupp »

I have experienced blanks in the decible level after MM analyzes the volume. No matter how many times you re-analyze, they remain blank. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Volume Leveling Problem Tracks

Post by roupp »

Rusty: I emailed to you 2/545 files that I have this problem with. I've looked at the track properties and have not been able to identify any patterns.

Here the file demographics:
File Type: MP3 files
Bitrate: 48 to 320
Sample Rate: 16,000 to 44,100
Channels: Stereo and Mono
File Size: 43KB to 89MB
Location: Internal HDD that all other tracks are located on

I addition, all of these tracks, the track volume decible does show up. It's only the album level that doesn't work. I hope this helps.

Thanks.

Yes I also have this problem where no matter how many times I analyse certain albums the album levelling value will not be created. This occurs on about 11 out of 885 albums in my library.

Leveling problems

Post by rusty »

Roupp,

So looked at the files that you sent and they _did_ contain Track Gain metadata in the tag, but not Album Gain metadata. Furthermore, when I analyzed them, Album Gain wasn't added, because it was only a single track.

So, I still haven't seen the problem, but my understanding of the problem is that it's mainly about the fact that Album Gain is sometimes not calculated (I'm assuming that track gain always is--please correct me if I'm wrong). If this is the case, then what would be helpful is if someone could sent me an entire album zipped that cannot be assigned an Album Gain value.

If my understanding is incorrect, let me know.

Thx.

Album Gain Setting

Post by roupp »

Rusty,

I'll send you an entire album that I'm experiencing this problem with. You are correct, the track gain is calculated but the album is not. It doesn't matter how many times you analyze it, it doesn't show up.
