MM 2.5.5 Auto playlist or script styles.

Post by _Vic333_ »

Hello, I'm new to the forums, but have been using this excellent program for a while. This may seem a long shot, but might as well ask.

I've been using All Music Guide to gather the information to tag my music with Media Monkey, and among the information, I've been gathering the style tags and using them with custom field headings in media monkey.

The format I've been using for multiple styles is style1; style2; style3, etc.
For example: Pop; Pop/Rock; Singer/ Songwriter; Folk-Rock; Merseybeat; Rock & Roll; British Invasion

Is there any possible way to create an auto playlist or script that would separate the styles from the semi-colons and display them separately, so I'd be able to see a list of all the songs under that specific style?

Thanks muchly, I love this program and any help would be much appreciated.

Well you could use the Magic Nodes script to run SQL on the field you've got the styles in, this could then create a node for each style.
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.
All the code for my website and scripts is safely backed up immediately and for free using Dropbox.

Why not just use an auto-playlist that searches the field you are using (Custom1 is where I put styles) for the style you want to list? For example to find all Merseybeat songs, I would use Custom1 as the "Property", Contains as the "Condition" and Merseybeat as the "Value".

That's exactly the method I've been wanting to use. The problem is, I'm a complete novice in using that script, or scripting in general.

Do you think you could lend me a hand with it, or point me in the right direction? Much thanks. :)
