Synchronizing on 1098 will not finish / terminate [F3909]
When I try to synchronize to my archos 605 media player, the process starts and the progression bar progresses but when it gets to the end it does not complete and end / close the process. It continues to state "synchronizing the a605" in the progression meeting even though it should be complete. I can disconnect my player and it is appears fine.
In this state, MM is responsive and appears fine - i.e. I can play tracks, etc…
If I right click on the bar, it gives me the option to terminate the process. However, selecting that option has no effect.
If I try to close MM, it tells me that "There are background processes running. Terminate them?" (yes / No). If I select “yes” is closed, but the right side of the task bar shows that it is still running and if I open the window’s task manager it shows that mediamonkey.exe is running.
If I terminate the process, I can get it to close. However, this has the effect of sometime corrupting the MM database and opening MM and attempting another sync, generates a sql error.
This is consistent and reproducible. …I have been through the process of deleting and rebuilding the db, attempting the first sync, have is “get stuck”, terminating and trying again, having the db now corrupted (with the only solution to be to delete and rebuild the database.
Please help, I love the application and have upgraded to gold already. I started using MM two revisions ago (1091 if I remember correctly) and did not have the sync issue.
I am running Vista on and Intel processor.
Not sure what to collect of how to collect it to help the developers resolve this. Please let me know and I will assist though.
Thanks.

I emailed loggs to to support@mediamonkey.com

Just wait for a while - I get a similar problem where on certain sync's MM just says Syncing: for quite a long time after copying all the tracks. It finishes eventually...
Looking at the debug log during this time, it shows MM is doing something with Album Art during this time - maybe it would be better if the Status Bar was updated to show some progress during this phase?

I have the same problem as the original poster in this thread. Same device, an Archos 605. It takes a little while for "Preparing list of tracks" to complete, deletes old files and copies new very quickly, then gets hung on "Synchronizing" at the end. That never finishes, even when left overnight. Closing the program and agreeing to terminate the background processes doesn't seem to actually do anything. Totally killing MM through the Task Manager does work, though this is the last resort way of stopping the program. The player actually does its own library scan when I disconnect it, and it seems fine.
Like the other poster, this is a new development with RC-1. I think I recall it completing normally, even quickly, with either Beta 4 or Beta 3.
I have tried the player in both MTP and UMS modes, with neither mode working much better than the other.

Good news.
Doing a robust uninstall and cleanup and then installing 1099 (per Russell) the sync worked fine. Also, the 1105 RC works as well.
Note I think the normal uninstall / install process for upgrading could cause problems. Seems like there are incompatible artifacts that remain after an uninstall.

Fixed
Updating to the newest Release Candidate fixed this for me. The sync is now going quickly and smoothly.
