adding album art cover + saving settings

Post by donector »

hi

i store the covers as separate files (jpg etc) in the same folder where the mp3 songs of the album are,

then for adding the cover to the album in mm3, i have to browse to the album's folder each time! one way to try reaching folders quicker i copy the track's path from the track properties...

last time, i pasted the full path including the mp3 name itself : g://../xxxx.*mp3 on the add image, select file window...guess what happened... it turned, it added the full mp3 file inside the image tag!

THEN

1) could this have some "image type" verification before adding the cover, or at least check that it doesn't attach audio tracks as images?

ABOUT adding artwork to an album in mm3
- when we click add image, you always get the last folder used, not the current folder (the place where the mp3 that you have clicked is stored) this is a nuisance bc as i said before, (i guess this is the natural way to store covers: together with the album) I have to browse to each folder to get the cover...
2) could you start the add image procedure in the current folder ?
similar to the menu of "find more from the same folder"

finally
3) i have moved the order of the columns in the browser, however each time i restart mm3 the columns are again as they were the first time...IT SEEMS IT IS NOT SAVING THE SETTINGS RIGHT.

i hope you can find and solve some of this bugs

thanks

donector, you are right, issue 2) seems to be often requested, but this is already fixed, try RC1 to see ;-)

To ensure what you mean by 'Current folder'
It is the folder where the audio file is placed and this works this way in RC1, isn't it?

i.e. Add image dialog starts in the folder of the track for which the image is going to be added.

I've been adding art for over four months now and I was excited to see this worked in RC-1....until I went to add art to a second album. It seems that MM goes to the folder in question on the first album you work on when opening up MM...but when I move on to another album and add art, it goes to the last album I was working on.

yes i mean the folder where the tracks are placed, but no.. it doesn't work well in rc1....there should be a problem with how the path data is passed to the function...

because as runtherisk mentioned this works sometimes, not sure if only the first time you use it, it happened to me once. bc it has also worked after adding some other albums from the net... so it seems to be working "randomly" from the users point of view

i am just guessing...maybe i depends on where the cursor is? (a song or on the cover, a full album, or just a track) i dunno... just guessing

Yes, I see.
You are right, it jumps to the current folder only in case of the first adding of an album art (unless you re-start MM).

yes that seems to be one case..but i just found the other case in which it works...
after you get the cover /tags from the web (ctrl+L), then the next time u reach an album and click "add cover", it starts browsing in the same folder

all other times it wont work

--- about the covers there seems to be another issue: after changing the cover, sometimes the cover won't show in the browser, and the only way to see the changes is browsing another album and then returning to the album in question
