I have custom settings entered into the "Default View Options".
The setting are retained between MM sessions...BUT each time MM Starts the custom settings are ignored. If I open the Default View Option dialog and press ok..without actually changing anything it then implements my custom settings.
Here is a screen shot showing how MM started...and the dialog shows the settings it was supposed to follow, BUT did not:
This is consistent right now...happens every restart.
Thanks caddy....I can't replicate now either...lol
This problem has occured here ever since the implementation of the new node selection ability...intermittently
I never really got consistent replication until yesterday...so I have never posted.
Yesterday It was a consistent error...every MM start-up...so that is why I posted....
Today it starts up with the correct user selections each time....
Have no idea how to recreate yesterday's behavior. The only thing that comes to mind is a computer restart...I never restarted the computer yesterday during the consistent error behavior.
All I can say is that the behavior as seen above has consistently occurred inconsistently here.
Its back...and now I can't get my settings to "stick" between MM3 restarts.
The only way to get my custom tree nodes settings to appear is to go to the Choose Tree node edit window and press ok...OR if I open the Tools|options window and just press ok the custom tree appears....
Otherwise, each time I start MM3 it reverts to the "default" tree node structure seen above...
Here is debug file of starting MM3 and then just selecting Choose tree edit and selecting ok.
If MM2 is opened during a windows session, subsequent restarts of MM3 will NOT display the custom users settings for Tree Nodes....it will ONLY display the default Tree node structure of MM2, until changed by the user...as shown above.
If computer is rebooted, MM3 will then display the custom user settings correctly.... until an MM2 session is opened.
It does not matter if both are open at the same time or not. If at any time- MM2 is opened, THEN upon ANY subsequent MM3 startup MM3's custom tree node settings will not initiate correctly...until windows is rebooted.
1) Ran MM3
2) Modified default column layout and node settings
3) Close MM3
4) Ran MM2
5) Closed MM2
6) Ran MM3
--> customized default column layout and node settings were retained.
I cannot recreate as in previous post. Again...all that is consistent is inconsistency.
I re-created as described above 5 times...I actually rebooted compter 5 times...because of the reboot I was very confident the behavior was defined....guess not.
Today...I could only make it happen once...and(luckily?) that one time generated an email error and it was sent to support. I mentioned your post heading in the email.
I do not recall exactly what I was doing or what state MM3 was in when the "repeatable" state described above was extant.
Incredibly frustrating...for each MM3 session where I search or manipulate the library I lose my custom settings at least once. I thought I had a recreatable sequence...but evidently not.
I can confirm the exact behavior that CMX mentioned in his post. I have been able to recreate it every time I restart MM3. I use MM3 exclusively so MM2 is no longer on my computer. I have one node that I turned off that is there consistently every time. I right click on the Music Tree area, select options, choose tree node, then click ok and the node disappears.
Rusty...don't know what to say. I have tried to find some repeatable sequence of settings, usage, etc...it appears totally random.
I thought there might be some sort of conflict etc...so I uninstalled and removed all other MM3's....
Deleted everything .ini, etc... except the db.
Downloaded a clean MM3RC2 and installed.
Opened MM3RC2...
Setup tree and columns...
Closed MM3 and re-opened...users settings are retained but tree node does not display correctly as above....Note the column settings ARE correctly displayed.
One thing I have noticed when it DOES work...the "default" everything tree node view shows up for a split second BEFORE my custom tree node selections view is displayed...
I use the "Remote Speakers" output plugin.
I am able to recreate by....
-If I select Remote Speakers as the output source and restart MM the custom Nav Tree settings I have chosen are NOT displayed. (They are in fact still selected, but NOT displayed)
-If I then right click Tree window and select "Choose Tree Nodes" and click "OK" they are displayed properly.
-If I then restart MM3RC4 then the custom selections are NOT displayed.
-If the custom Nav Tree settings are NOT displayed (Remote Speakers selected output) and I then select the default MediaMonkey Directsound output, immediately upon pressing "OK" the custom Nav tree settings are displayed.
-If the custom Nav Tree settings are NOT displayed (Remote Speakers is the selected output) if I go to the Options screen for output plugins and ...NOT changing anything BUT SIMPLY selecting "OK" the custom settings are displayed correctly.
I have now cycled thru this series of recreations and resets five times. It has been consistent....
IN MM3RC3 I noticed that when MM started there was often a noticable "flash" of the Nav Tree from default to the correct custom display.
There seems to be something going on with the "read" and implementation of the ini file settings.
Thanks for any response and help with this.

Upon the FIRST start of MM3RC4 the "Flash" occurs as described above and the custom tree selections are displayed properly.
Upon subsequent restarts of MM (without rebooting the computer) the incorrect "default" tree settings are displayed and the behavior is as described above.
If I reboot the computer...
Same thing. Flash and then ok the first time...after that bad display happens on MM startup until reboot....
So its possible it didn't actually subside as I said above. It might be that I just happened to not have multiple sessions of MM between reboots. A switch is getting flipped wrong somewhere.
Thanks for any help with this issue, I'm sure you see how annoying it can be.
As for the "custom view per filter" no, I don't think so. I have not used "filter". Just the default as far as I know.
-If I run MM3RC4 without Remote Speakers output plugin installed there is NO problem.
-If I install the Remote Speakers plugin, then upon restart of MM, MM does NOT show custom Nav Tree settings. This is without even selecting it as output.
-If I reboot the computer, the first start of MM displays the correct custom Nav Tree settings.
-If I close MM and re-open MM during the same windows session, MM DOES NOT display the custom Nav Tree settings upon ANY subsequent start-up during the same windows session.
-If I uninstall Remote speakers plugin MM will CORRECTLY display the custom Nav Tree settings.
**Through all the steps above Remote speakers was never selected/activated as output plugin.
**It feel important to note the behavior that: When Remote Speakers is NOT installed and MM seems to be operating properly in regard to this issue...upon each startup the "default" Nav Tree layout is intially "flashed" BEFORE the custom Nav Tree settings are displayed.
I have run thru many iterations of this with the same results each time...
Why an output plugin would have this affect on the GUI is way past anything that makes sense to me... but there it is.
***Is this an MM issue?
***Is this a Remote Speakers output plugin issue?
***How can I go about getting this resolved?
Any help and information on this issue would be appreciated.
