Volume leveling [1277]
I wanted to change the level of all my songs to new value (I had it at default 89 dB but wanted to change it to 95 dB). After I did leveling about 75%-80% of songs changed correctly but for the rest the level is now anywhere fro +1.0dB to +6.0dB.
Volume leveling
Hi,
a couple of questions to clarify this:
-Which setting did you change to 95db?
-What were the volume leveling co-efficients prior to leveling the volume?
-What were the volume leveling co-efficients after you leveled the volume?
-Did you actually use tools > Level Track Volume or Analyze Volume?
Note: assuming that you used Level Track Volume, and you're asking why the volume co-efficient isn't at 0, it could be because Clipping prevention prevented this.

Re: Volume leveling

I changed all of them but the one I'm concerned is song level (not playback)
-What were the volume leveling co-efficients prior to leveling the volume?
Before I had all songs at 89dB and all songs were within +/- 1dB prior to leveling
-What were the volume leveling co-efficients after you leveled the volume?
Liske I said most of the songs leveled correctly within 1dB range of desired value, however some of them (10-20%) were off up to +6dB
-Did you actually use tools > Level Track Volume or Analyze Volume?
Yes I did level track volume

I tried both options no difference. I tried to reset volume leveling coeff but no change. It leveled the second time to same value. One think that worked I reconverted the song to the same format I had before (mp3 128) After the convertion (that a priori whouldnt change anything) the leveling of that song worked correctly!

Level volume doesn't work on some tracks
In my testing I've always been able to level volume for tracks that don't level due to clipping prevention, by disabling clipping prevention.
If this isn't working for you, please send me one such track (i.e. a track that has been leveled to 95db, but has a volume co-efficient of +6db).
Thx.

This is most likely because you are just leveling the playback volume and not altering the actual track volume. Therefore, when you raised it by 6 db, without altering the track MM is indicating to you that it is raising the PLAYBACK volume of the track by 6db to play at the volume you prefer, if it is an MP3 just use tools- level track volume and it will fix it, refresh the screen if needed.
Level Track Volume fails on unicode files
I should have thought of this sooner. Here's the reason for this:

I'll see if we can fix this for 3.0, but I expect it'll be in a subsequent release.

Level Volume command only works for MP3s
sparker,
That's right. The level track volume command only works on MP3s.
