OK...like the software and want to associate my media types to it...BUT...it then labels all media types as "MediaMonkey file" in Windows Explorer...and now I can't tell an mp3 from a wma!!!
How can I associate the media types to MediaMonkey but not have MediaMonkey change everything to "MediaMonkey file"??????

In Windows Explorer you can enable the column "Type", then you will see if it is a WMA or a MP3.

associating media types
thanks for the suggestion...but that is actually the problem - not the solution. Media Monkey takes over the "type" column in Windows Explorer and changes the file type for any associated file to "MediaMonkey file" rather than leaving it as wma, mp3, etc.
Then only solution I have found is to remove the file association within Media Monkey and then the file type in Windows Explorer goes back to being mp3, wma etc. But - that defeats the purpose of associating the files to play in MediaMonkey.
There must be a way to stop Media Monkey from renaming file types to "MediaMonkey file" when the file type is associated to it...and if there isnt then the software should be changed because this is a MAJOR NUISANCE!!!!
Anyone else have suggestions on this?
