Portable players

Post by Lowlander »

Some notes
Support for portable/external players is something that the developers are interested in. Of course they are limited by the makers of these portable players. If they keep their players closed for the outside there isn't much that can be done.
There are other options and that is looking for plugins on WinAmp. It has a section for portable players (not too many plugins). I don't know if these plugins would work with MM.
Another solutions is looking for firmware updates on the specific player. Sometimes manufacturers add hdd support afterwards.

The following are a list of players confirmed to work with MM and for which support has been requested. If you want your player to be supported please post a request and PM me with the link to the post if I fail to pick it up in the list. As for players that are supported you can PM or post on the forum. It would be nice if you post any details on how you got it to work (especially if you needed plugins, firmware updates, etc.)

Portable Players confirmed to work with MM
  • Archos av420
    Archos Recorder 20
    BenQ Joybee 150
    Creative MuVu NX 128MB
Creative nomad muvo (standard,NX,TX,TX-FM) - all capacities
    Creative nomad muvo^2 (=square) - all capacities
Creative nomad muvo slim - all capacities
    Iaudio m3l
Portable Players for which support has been requested
  • Creative Lab's Nomad Jukebox 3
    Creative Lab's Zen Touch
    Creative Labs' Zen Xtra jukebox
    Creative Zen
    DELL DJs
    Ipod
    Neuros MP3 player
    Palm 5/Treo
    Rio Riot
    Sony Mini Disk Player
    Sony NW-HD3
Important note
Players confirmed are confirmed by users. This could mean that it doesn't work for you. So be careful with these lists.

I would be very interested in having MediaMokey support Creative Lab's Nomad Jukebox 3. Not so much for streaming or music transfers but to take advantage of MM's extensive playlist abilities.

MP3-Player - Loomax FC-100 2 music folders

Post by webrider »

I'm using the Loomax-MP3 Player FC-100 which has beside its internal 128 MB Memory also a external SD-Card slot. But charge alle 2 drives I should define all 2 drives of this Player. But now I can only choose one folder i. E. drive "D" or "E". But I need all two drives to store music files. But in the window of MM exists only one window for one drive.

I think more MP3 Player are using external Slots, so will there be a change to open all 2 drives.

Works with the Creative MuVu NX 128MB drive.

Unfortunately it also worked with my External 40GB HDD. I accidently syncronised this drive letter and lost 24GB of MP3's   Totally my fault. I have however deselected the "Remove songs not in playlist" option.

24GB  I'm still crying. Most of it I could retrieve, but it's the time that went into tagging and some of it was recorded because the original CD's were copy protected. :x

hi, i can confirm that mm works with the following players:
creative nomad muvo (standard,NX,TX,TX-FM) - all capacities
creative nomad muvo^2 (=square) - all capacities
creative nomad muvo slim - all capacities

all of these players are recognized as drive - without any additional drivers or software

Post by julzcompufreek »

Hi all,

I use my BenQ Joybee 150 with MM and it works great with syncronisation.
Transfers them to the specified directory and everything.

I'd just like to thank all u guys (n' girls if there are any) at MM for doing such a great job in keeping up with our music needs.

Thanks,

when it is written that suport for creative zen is requested, does it imply that zen touch also become compatible?

That depends. If all creative players use the same system all would work. Otherwise support for each one needs to written.

In any case this list is in no way a guarantee that MM will ever support portable players that don't show up as HDD. That's why this is in the wishlist forum.

ipod

I believe the ubiquitous ipod was inadvertantly left off the requested list as I have seen it requested in other spots here. My wife will not give hers up and now that Alpine has a device that integrates the ipod with their head unit, I may break down and get one, too. But I love MM so much, better integration would be so cool. I hate Itunes.

Nomad JB 3

Post by over »

I currently have a Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 and use Notmad by Red Chair to move files to the player. No problem exporting the playlists made in MM and then getting Notmad to see that playlist and transfer it to the player (Creative's program should also do it for you). Not as nice, certainly, as having MM do it...but doable. The whole synchronizing thing is really not an option. If you change the playlist, you'll need to delete it from your player and transfer it again.

Requesting support for the DELL DJs.

Note that some players show up as hard drives in windows exlorer but will only play mp3s that are uploaded through a supported application (e.g. iPod).
