real audio media (*.ra, *.ram)

Post by legume »

hi there,

i downloaded some real audio files (*.ra) from the web, recently.

question 1: "playback"
is there any way to play them via media monkey WITHOUT installing the real media player ("real one"?)?
do i need special plugins? do i have to install some separate codecs?

question 2: "conversion"
is there any way to convert them to *.wav or *.mp3?
do i need special plugins?

thx, leg

1. The only thing you will need is .RA Plugin for winamp. It can be found on Winamp Site.

2. As soon as you got RA plugin you will be able to convert RA files to ogg, MP3, Wma, Wav with MM. (Tags may be the problems as MM do not support RA natively)

can't find real audio media plugins

Post by legume »

hi there,

1. AFAIK the latest mediamonkey release (2.2.2) supports winamp 2.x (version TWO!) plugins?

2. to access winamp 2.x related info / plugins you'll have to access http://classic.winamp.com/plugins/ ?

3. i can't find any ".RA" input plugin there !?

4. the only one i found is http://classic.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=22143 ("tara audio video plugin" by Tara Varshney). is this the one to use?

thx, leg

i found the following plugins so far:
- tara
- innover / innoreal

both require the real player (e.g. "G2") to be installed, however!

i'm looking for a standalone plugin/codec.

thx, leg

There is a codec back out there called real alternative, I always install that instead of the Real Media package, because it was annoying me.
