Hotkeys not working after computer locked

Post by Killjoy12 »

It seems that the global hotkeys stop working after the computer is locked via ctl-alt-del.

This is with 3.0.1

I too have noticed the same behavoir. I have a Dell Inspiron E1405 running MM 3.01.1127. For me it is the media buttons on the front of the laptop. They work just fine with MM as long as you don't have to lock the screen. As soon as you lock the screen, their functionality goes away. I did check to see if there were updated drivers from Dell, and I am at the latest rev for everything. I should also mention that this actually worked fine with MM 2.5x, so I am not sure what has changed.

Most definitely. My bug report (http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24361) was completely ignored for some reason :)

/edit
On a second thought, this seems to be talking about using media keys while the computer is locked. I don't think that's possible, Windows doesn't allow apps to respond to these while the PC is locked, as far as I know.

I have "fast user switching" enabled and my computer is not a member of a domain. Previously I was not able to reproduce this and I found a strange causality:

I'm using Win XP SP2

1. If I lock by "Ctrl+Alt+Del" -> "Log off" -> "Switch user WinKey + L" clicking
and then unlock => Global keys work fine

BUT

2. If I lock by using the shortcut "WinKey + L" a
and then unlock => Global keys don't work as you mentioned

that is strange why OS handle this differently despite the fact it is the same action ?? I'm looking into this.

This is not true. I was referring to GHK not working after locking and then unlocking.

Hitting Win-D restores hotkey/mulitmedia key functionality. Dunno why, but it does. Hopefully it will tide us over until the bug is squashed.

Unfortunately that doesn't restore my functionality.

Maybe it works on non-domain accounts, but for me I'm screwed once the lockout happens. After I log back in, I have to quit the app completely and restart to get things going again. :cry:
