"Locate Moved/Missing Tracks..." fix coming?

Post by tjdzine »

I posted about this in another thread but am thinking this is a better location. I'm running Gold 3.0.3.1166 and the "Locate Moved/Missing Tracks..." selection doesn't work at all. Any ideas when this functionality will come online? I see that there are two mentions of this getting fixed in the beta release posts but it's still not working.

Locate moved missing

Post by rusty »

Just tested and it's working fine.

There is a deficiency though:
It relies on filesize AND an unchanged timestamp--thus it won't work when a track's timestamp has changed.

Thanks for the info Rusty. I'll have to check the timestamps, don't know if or how they would change. I wonder if that is a deficiency that will be overcome in the Locate Moved/Missing function? With that constraint, it seems to be pretty useless in anything other than perfectly controlled enviroments. With changing machines, swapping hard drives and sharing libraries routine scenarios, it's current implementation leaves much to be desired. I still love MM, it's better than anything else out there, but this seemingly simple problem without a solution is really frustrating...

perhaps there should be an option to disable the timestamp and file size checks.

this would also allow for the user to more easily substitute higher quality tracks in place of lower.
