Error with Update track info from tags when rescanning

I have the option to update tags when editing properties turned off so that the changes are only made to the database and not the actual music tags.
A lot of my music's tags or inferred properties do not get correctly added into mediamonkey (a lot of files get the artist as 00 for some reason).

Because of this, i turn off the "Update Track Info From Tags When Rescanning files". Even though i do this, files that are already in my database still get updated with the incorrect tags whenever i rescan for files (only if the music with the incorrect tags is in the area I'm searching).

I have tried adding the files with it both off and on and also with the secondary option of "Only for files with changed timestamp or size" checked.
Is this a bug or is there a way to fix this besides waiting for a new release with the issue fixed?
