Drag+drops folders [4753]

Post by Decodeco »

This has been a problem with MM since forever, just never looked into it before and just worked around. So i assume its been talked about before.

The problem is when I drag a folder of music into now playing, it will only add the songs if the folder itself contains the song files. If you try and drag a folder that has the files inside split into 2 more files(e.g disc1,disc2) then it wont add the tracks, you will need to drag each folder seperately.

For example, take this album: The Very Best Of MTV Unplugged
Its file paths are like so;
.Desktop\The Very Best Of MTV Unplugged\Vol 1\
.Desktop\The Very Best Of MTV Unplugged\Vol 2\
.Desktop\The Very Best Of MTV Unplugged\Vol 3\
If i drag the folder "The Very Best Of MTV Unplugged" into the playlist, it will not add any of the tracks contained in the "Vol1-3" folders.

I will need to open the folder, and then highlight the 3 folders and drag them in.

And another problem when doing this is, that the discs do not sort into the playlist in the correct order, it might be the 3rd volume is at the top and the 1st in the middle, with the 2nd volume last.

Another issue with dragging folders into the playlist is that sometimes the tracks are not in order of track# but instead they are ordered alphabeticaly. This can be easily fixed just by removing and readding it, but it is just a pain sometimes.

If theres already a fix for it out there please help me out, maybe its something silly like an options setting. I searched the forum but couldnt find anything related.

1. MediaMonkey will add all tracks from selected folder and are viewed in track browser. D&D Should be available for ALL Tree Node. But that do not work as it should I'll Add it to our To-Do list, for now you can use workaround to select ALL tree Node and Sort Track View by Album + Disk# + Track# or if you do not have entered all Tag info Album + Path + Track# and Then Select All tracks for D&D to Playlist

Other: To ensure correct Sorting you need to sort Track view prior to dragging

Additionally you can use Filters & views to force correct sorting.
