sanning mp3s copies artist to album artist
On various artist albums with beta 5 seems to copy the artist to album artist field instead of leaving the various artist.
Various Artist album not scanned correctly
Hi,
I just tested this on Beta 5 and could not find a problem. I tested as follows:
-Inserted various artists CD
-Ripped the CD
-Removed the tracks from the library (but not the HD)
-Rescanned the tracks from the HD
-Verified that Album Artist and Artist fields are correctly filled
Please elaborate.

Still something weird.
I tried the same stuff you did, it worked for that but I still have Problems. More with scanning a large database of music.
After I removed MM Beta and the databases it leaves.
Installed MM 2.2 did a scan everything worked fine.
Installed MM 2.3 scanned and had the issue of the album artist field with the artist instead of various.
I have a very large database on multi drives. That was ripped using either Media Monkey or Music Match. The database is 320K Mp3 arranged by Media monkey using /music/artist/album/track# - title
The scan tag settings are unchanged from install so whatever the defaults are what it is
Tried copying a dozen of the files that have issues to a test area.
Cleared the entire lib.
scanned only the test files, it worked! on 2.3 Beta
Now really curious, cleared the lib.
Rescanned my main lib without the test copy area. Seems to do the same silly thing of messing up the album artist field
Some other odditys I have noticed in the past with this issue. I would have to reverify this stuff.
After moving to beta, everything seems happy using the scanned database from 2.2 Until I do a clear and rescan. Then things go south.
If I edit the tags using the beta for the album artist to various, clear and rescan all the edits are gone.
the maintain library and checking the 'create multi-artist albums' using 2.2 it pops up a box with 2 entrys that I know about, and have not done anything about. After scaning by the beta, the popped up box has many many pages of messed up multi-artist albums

OK I went back to 2.2 since that seems to read the tags correctly. changed the library options to ID3V2 tags Synchronized the tags. Then Reinstalled beta 834 scanned and still have the same issue.
synch with ID3V2 tags on MM 2.2 does not take care of the problem with beta scanning.
Also only scanning one drive still has the problem, so ignore my setup with multi drives.
For some reason copying a handfull of files to test area and scan them alone everything works.
Anoother oddity, that I remember which I don't know if it has anything to do with the situation. When create csv tracklists Some albums have fields "" around them, some don't..

I revisited the problem. Found a test case which seems kinda repeatable for the problem.
With a clear lib, in media monkey I look under my computer to the drive and directory with a test case in it. The album artist for the test case shows various. Then I scan the directory. The album artist sometime, mostly the first time changes to the artist while under my computer.
But going back under Library, it changes the album artist to the artist.
